@dwaynelum Go LEAFS! I am not even from Toronto, I was just brainwashed to cheer for them from my old man. You need some indigo pads to see what kind a fades a few clappers will make

@derek111 they have a new digital printing technology - maybe I could get some done in XHS print. Like the wrapped truck that was in some of the pre-party photos.
My Dad secured a signed stick from that '67 cup winning team - ink on wood. And like all good Canadian kids I took it out in the snow and played road hockey with it. Totally ruining a collectors item. Here's to AM34 netting 70G this season!

@Mister_Brue it's good caliber hockey - 50+ guys may have lost a step or two, but what they lack in speed they make up for in "hockey sense." Most of the guys have played at some higher level of amateur or pro. But mainly we do it to keep the teenager in us alive and enjoy a few "pops" and camaraderie afterwards. 1hr of hockey for 3hrs of shenanigans post-game.

@Mister_Brue Bell Centre is a pretty awesome venue. And electric crowd. I love the old barns for their character and history. But modern amenities sure are nice at a game.

@dwaynelum Have you been to the Forum before they went to the Bell Center? I was at the Forum for the 1977 Stanly Cup finals Vs Boston. Ticket was 12.00 for center ice in the blue seats.
-
@dwaynelum oh man, that would be amazing. And yes here is to him hitting 70, maybe that C on the chest will give him yet another gear!
-
@twin I competed in pass, shoot, score competition at the Forum many moons ago. The finalists attended the game afterward which was broadcast on HNiC and it was the thrill of a lifetime. Habs were in their heyday then. When both the Forum and Maple Leafs Gardens closed I was lucky enough to secure a pair of seats from each that have moved with around the globe.

What a start:) -
Great game

Pretty remarkable. A record I never thought would be broken back in the day and yet here were are.
Congratulations where they are due. Ovi is the great estimate goal scorer of all time (so far).

Gutted that the Avs exited on a winnable series, but I love ice hockey. Any fans got takes?
I believe that the NHL postseason is the best in the major professional sports, though the NBA is giving it a run for its money this year.
That said, the officiating and player safety / discipline functions in the NHL are extremely problematic.
Pulling for the Jets, Oilers, Leafs, and Hurricanes this round. I’d love to see Lord Stanley’s Cup finally return to the country that gave us this magnificent sport.

@mclaincausey love hockey, such a great sport to follow, even if there are some major challenges right now. I believe player safety will take a back seat until the "old time hockey" proponents are a negligible minority or the NHL/the owners are taken to the cleaners and have to pay more than they had to a few years back for CTE-related issues. Until then "player safety" is an oxymoron

I’m hoping the west final has the Oilers v Jets. I’m also hoping that Ovi and the Caps can make it to the final. I honestly love hockey and each team. So it’s fun watch almost any game. That said… the playoffs and final are like the best thing ever. I haven’t been able to stay up late and watch the games as much anymore, but the NHL has been putting 10 minute versions of the games up on YouTube so I can catch up in the morning. It’s been absolutely wild series so far. I really thought the Avs would beat the Stars. The Blues gave the Jets a run for their money. Who knows. I feel like all my predictions don’t count anymore. It’s really a game by game series for everyone. This year feels special!

@Fadez agreed. Avs should have beaten the Stars but they blew two third period leads before Mikko had a point and then he went nuclear. Lots of people are coming away with the trade being bad but that is a sophomoric take IMO. The team lost with him to the Stars last year, he turned down what they could afford, they were losing games down the stretch, they traded him to the Western conference, and they got depth in the trade. No one could have known he’d get traded to the Stars and that Makar and others would completely disappear and they almost won the series anyway. It was the right move and they’re a better team. I think they could have made a run if they’d gotten past Dallas.
A Canadian final would make me very happy and I kind of want the Oilers to win just because of McDavid et al. Toronto finally breaking through would also be awesome. Would love those two to go 7 games in the finals.

I'd love to see McDavid and Draisaitl win, and as a bonus I'd love to see someone challenge Tkachuk and Bennett and beat the crap out of both. Being an agitator and playing with an edge is one thing, but Bennett in particular strikes me as a Matt Cooke type of reckless player who is fine with injuring other players. Soft or inconsistent refereeing and supplemental discipline enable that type of nonsense, that has no place in hockey imo

The thought of my Maple Leafs going against the Oilers in a cup final actually makes me giddy. As a leafs fan out West, that would make me so happy. But let's be honest, just to see the leafs eliminate Florida this post season would be enough for me. They just need to get out of the second round in one piece.
