First hear was at a beach bar on the Greece island Paros, one year after its release.

      Still audible…

@GraemeE This is kind of like one degree of separation. Genya Ravan(Former lead singer with a band called Ten Wheel Drive)had signed a production deal with Media Sound Studios in NYC. It was her job to go out and find new bands and bring them to the studio and produce demos for them with the agreement that if they got signed as a result of those demos they’d record their album at the studio. An engineer there said I saw this band Sorrows at CBGBs you should check them out. Fast forward…She’s late getting to a session, she comes in all out of breath and excited because she had just been singing back up vocals on a song for Lou Reeds new album. And she thought it was the craziest/funniest thing that he had them sing…And the colored girls go. Do Da Do etc. etc. Had no idea as to what she was talking about and then the song comes out. We did get signed as a result of those demos, and recorded our first album at that studio. She didn’t produce our album, but she did produce The Dead Boys Young,Loud, and Snotty.

You go from not having any good stories to an anecdote about the recording of one of the most iconic songs of the early 70s

@Jett129 i dont think ive heard them but on a quick web search there is a Joe Meek connection with at least some of their material so I'm game.

@GraemeE Had to look up Joe Meek. There was another band with the same name, and maybe he worked with them. Definitely not us.

Not sure my taste is his taste but he never turns anything off that he puts on and it’s all a damn sight better than the commercial radio junk he would otherwise hear

Check out Daptone Records if you get a chance, I've seen quite a few of there artists live over the years and they are so good (unfortunately a few - Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Naomi Shelton to name a few are no longer with us)
