I've been wearing this shirt a lot lately. Took some evening photos today to show what it looks like. Definitely one of my favorite IH pieces, by a long shot.

@Oaktavia Hard to see in the picture, but the big black has went from inky black to a blackish brown colour. Here’s a closeup of the shoulder for example:

Inside shirt cuff: Black is almost gone.

@goosehd thanks for sharing the photos. That is what I was thinking it would look like. I am seeing a little bit of brown peeking through on my cuffs as you might be able to see in my photos. That is why I was asking you wondering how far along yours got after a season. I am already getting excited. I have noticed similar timing with indigo fading and in the same areas. My other western shirts won't see the light of day anytime soon haha.

from the before/after it almost looks like the length in the front shrunk a bit?

@WhiskeySandwich I am wondering if it will fade at the same rate as indigo denim does roughly. I know that natural veg tan leather patinas much faster than denim fades, but that is apples to oranges with black dyed leather. I know it's not always about the destination of where the fades and patina goes (@Matt) but I am always thinking about it. I can't not think about it.

@Oaktavia ...funny, I don't think about it and just enjoy where it's at and the journey. Interesting how people view the fades differently. Every once in a while I see something that catches my eye and I take a picture of two, but otherwise I don't put much thought into it.

@goosehd I would say that at least 75% of the time in my brain I'm thinking about denim fades. I'm taking photos of my fade progress several times a week too. I look forward to it after a long day of work. I think about it on the ride home.

I think of it as #wearableart and as the denim fades, the art develops like a photo in slow mo'. I love the slow weathering process of the fades and do it entirely for that reason.

@Oaktavia It's only natural to think of where it (you) are going, whether it changes the journey for you or not. I enjoy every stage of evo for different reasons. Leather and denim may be apples to oranges, but I do consider my favorite stage of any clothing or footwear to be right before it falls to bits. It's great when things take longer to get to that stage, but that peak is always an ephemeral thing. What i appreciate about IH and other nice/well-made/fading/patina-ing items, is that the thrill-period is significantly longer than regular, disposable items. And the lead up to it is more enjoyable.

Like a good song or movie, the climax is only as good as the build up to it. Having said that, I've bailed on a handful of things because I just didn't enjoy 'the journey' enough to get there. This big black buck tho - seems like a masterpiece to me.
