Still rocking the OGL cardholder folder. My repair is holding up. Color is slightly coming in, but super slowly.

@popvulture that’s how I felt about this wallet. I hope it works for both of us! Let me know how it turns out man

Does the deglazer seem bring the leather back to its “natural” state so it can patina nicely? I’m thinking of buying the OGL natural garrison belt but I’m on the fence after reading this. Thanks in advance!!

@pjroo33 It did seem to strip the coating off, dried it up a bit but i lubed it back to healthy. It's been a couple months and its getting color quicker now, but still slow. I love the wallet and rock it daily, but frankly, its the slowest natural leather I've ever had to build a patina. BUT, it does look excellent IMO, i like it just how it is.

Thanks for the update! BTW - the wallet is beautiful! Wonder why this leather is so slow to age?

@pjroo33 thanks, it’s a great design. I bet it’s stubborn cuz it’s pretty tight grained and impregnated with whatever they treated it with. Not really oily.

I have been searching for my perfect shell cordovan wallet and recently had this wallet made by an amazing Japanese artisan I found on Instagram. They go by the name Robusta, absolutely beautiful work!

This specific one is made from Leder Ogawa aniline dyed shell with a natural Leder Ogawa oil shell. The main cash slot also shows the Leder Ogawa stamp. I can't wait to see how this one will age!

I’ve been looking to replace my card wallet that I lost while in Vietnam this past winter, and this beautiful leather creation arrived in the mail today. Very impressed with Benjamin Bott’s work and this suits my needs perfectly. The middle “receipt” slot is very expandable if needed, while keeping a fairly slim profile when not. It leather smells gorgeous and feels good in the hand. Looking forward to breaking it in and seeing how the patina develops over time.

Edit: The colour in the pictures is more yellow than in real life. It has more of a pinkish flesh tone to it than is captured in the photos.

Ted Baker wallet that I was gifted in 2011 by a mate on a drunken night out in London as my next one basically fell apart that night, used every single day since no idea what colour it was originally as he had it for a good few years before me

@Mizmazzle nah, it has darkened a ton in the past year though. I made that from a light/medium brown leather. I've been on the hunt for some new leather to make another but it's surprisingly difficult to find the exact stuff I'm looking for.

His is veg tan while mine is the darker British tan.

@Mizmazzle thanks duder! I've found some suppliers that make for some quality stuff too, and it ends up being pretty cheap in the end. So it's cheaper, fun, and you get the feelgoods of having a one-off piece you made yourself!

I honestly hate how natural leather looks when it's new like this, but it produces the absolute best looks down the road imo. I can't wait for this sucker to get greasy and dark. My last wallet got so dark it was nearly black on the back. seems like 75% of the patina happens in the first few months, so i'm hoping the leather i got for the tether ages similarly. you may be able to tell in the pics the wallet has had about a week headstart.

@Mizmazzle i just youtubed "four strand braid" and eyeballed some other existing products on the market. My passion for perfection (OCD) made the knots difficult though, the part that wraps around the circle brass rings was hard to get done in an reasonably clean manner. I took way too long on it, doing it and undoing it until it was what I consider acceptable. But you find your methods along the way.
