Is pigment dyed the same as chrome dyed? How does pigment dye vary from veg tanned in how they both age and wear?

This IHJ-129-BRN is "premium vegetable tanned horsehide" that has been "pigment dyed brown - meaning that once the pigment fades out, the natural leather will begin to show underneath."

THIS.IS.AMAZING.
It is a jacket out of this world - that horsehide is something else. Buttery soft right from the start. The colour is beautiful, I was a little hesitant to get a brown leather jacket first.
I think I nailed the fit with my (shirt size) XXL. Sleeve length is spot on, shoulders and chest, too. Waist feels a little restrictive when zipped up, but not too bad.
