@jordanscollected I agree. Every fit I have seen here so far looks 100x better than their site.
-
@TelemarkTumalo that is a very handsome jacket and you wear it well

@Anesthetist I agree. Every fit I have seen here so far looks 100x better than their site.
My experience on fit. I'm a medium fit in most jackets with 38" chest. I ordered the small based on recommendation from Heat Straps. Small is listed at 48" chest measurement made for layering and generous back gussets.Just ideal and gives me ample room to layer when the temps really drop, but still fine with just a t-shirt when not terribly cold.

Lets get a full fit @Karol !

@Karol thanks for sharing about Heat Straps - I've not heard of them. How is your Chief coat breaking in? Looks great
-
@Inorganic I finally have some updates.
Its this fall and winter when I started to really use the Chief Coat regularly. And I realized this is really a coat for a cold weather. Just as @TelemarkTumalo prophesized a year ago.
Its especially exceling in cold AND wet weather - Its raining most of the time when I pick this one. I think of it as a something I would go for if it is to warm for IH oiled N1 deck jacket but I still don't want the rain/snow and wind to affect me.
I cant really get pictures that would better show how it fits. The ultimate ones are by You @TelemarkTumalo -
I wasn’t aware of Heat Straps until now. Nice looking coat! Waxed canvas?
-
@Denman-John Yes, waxed twill 24oz. And a more workwear cut allowing for increased movement.
-
@Karol how breathable is the 24oz waxed canvas? I’m considering their Deck Jacket but I worry that even in the MN cold I will overheat doing farm chores. I know we aren’t comparing apples to apples since the deck jacket has Mouton lining, but it’s the same shell.
-
@jordanscollected Its not breathable at all. It's at its best in low humidity -temp.
Im successfully using their Chief Coat (that they might have stopped producing
) as a shell. Usually, it's in -10 +10 degree Celsius where its most effective.
Im super glad that I got it.And for Your particular case the mouton is no joke. It seems to be a consensus that this N1 and the Dehen 1920 are the prime examples of going maybe a bit too far...?
Still, in my opinion there are perfectly legitimate scenarios for those jackets. Hunting, fishing, or anything that makes one stay in one position. -
@Karol that’s excellent information thank you! I was worried it could be too much for my purpose. I could wear it riding for warmth but that’s too narrow of a wear window to justify a purchase. When it’s so cold it would work my wife wouldn’t want to ride anyhow. And I overheat pretty quick now in my full Carhartt suit pushing wheel barrows and cleaning coops.
The Dehen was in consideration too (price) and maybe a Freenote RJ-2 (price and no dual zipper).
