Quoted from a report by the parliament's spending watchdog, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) looking into the effects of Brexit…....

"One of the great promises of Brexit was freeing British businesses to give them the headroom to maximise their productivity and contribution to the economy - even more desperately needed now on the long road to recovery from the pandemic,"

"Yet the only detectable impact so far is increased costs, paperwork and border delays."

On the one hand, it must be validating to have a govt. committee confirm your experience, on the other hand “No shit, Sherlock”, (accompanied by a slow clap).

I must still be naive in my middle age, but I remain astounded at the level of horseshit that was used to sell “Leave”.

The depressing part isn't the truckloads of horseshit used to sell Brexit, it's how readily half the country lined up to buy it.

(And believe me, I'm aware of the irony of that statement coming from an American)

@Giles I think I have said this to you in Hamburg - Brexit is like watching a good friend committing suicide. In slow motion. Over and over again.

At the time of the referendum my mother (who is English) had been living in Germany for 43 years. Brexit was the the final drop that made her get German citizenship, both out of frustration and concern that she would have to get a residence permit again like in the good old days

@Giles Have any of the celebratory fools who reveled in joy when Brexit passed, change their tune? I think you spoke of a few people who you knew that were pro Brexit and wonder if they have seen the error of their ways.

Also, has anything actually improved post referendum for the UK workers? Really looking for any UK person on this to respond to hear their thoughts and views (without getting into the political aspect).
