@mclaincausey dude I love mezcal but it’s like my state doesn’t know what it is. I found ilegal repo down in Florida but I’ve been looking for the anejo cuz I know it’ll be tops. On the prowl

@WhiskeySandwich The Ilegal Anejo is on sale at Old Town Tequila. Obviously there will be a shipping charge, but if you can get a couple of other less expensive bottles the shipping charge per bottle goes down. IMG_2209.png

@Jett129 I’ve only tried the Amaras. Their espadin was ok. Mexicano was superb!

I may be cellaring the other two mezcals. I’m starting to think I should stockpile tepeztate (like the Mescalero No 29) until it goes extinct in a couple of decades.

            Think it, be it.

@WhiskeySandwich one thing that’s interesting about mezcal is the variable agaves and production methods relative to tequila. Barrel aging can blunt a lot of what makes mezcal interesting and make it harder to get notes of unique terroir, production methods, or agave. I tend to stick with unaged products for that reason.

Then again, I rarely go beyond reposado for tequila as well so maybe I just don’t dig barrel aging maguey in general.

              Think it, be it.

@Jett129 thanks man! I’ll have to check them out.

@mclaincausey i tend to prefer anejo but I like to try everything and compare. Honestly, i can’t really rationalize a pattern behind my preferences for anything other than whiskey. I just like what I like. Lol

I didn’t mention it, but wife also brought back some Clase Azul reposado from San Miguel de Allende. It was comped by the resort. Not really my bag but I’ll save that one for margs and palomas.

I’m more excited about the shot glasses she said they use in that region to sip tequila.
