While I was away from the Forum over last few weeks.

I did a little experiment. We all know
clothes from Japan is the best.
    What about music.
Well I can tell you for sure.

Am not talking about music groups or singers from Japan.
Am talking about Japan manufacturing music on CD.

So what I found is. Japan has it own pressing plant. History with Japan they release the first CD on 1st October 1982.
Today they still the pioneers more premium?.
CD in Japan has a market.

The sound quality Japan making CD has the following

    Quality in the sound richness’s

Media Artwork is more solid and crisper.

Cd quality and feel of printing on disc is amazing

Bonus songs only available mostly for Japan.

I manage to get hold of Japan CD’s

    IMG_4392.jpeg

More are on the way coming from Japan.

I never had a Japan promo. Got one listen to it. I was like wow what going on here. Songs I don’t even listen to sound awesome.

I could hear the mid sound balance with bass and treble.
    No distortion what so ever.

I brought same printed in USA cd i already had, listen compare it didn’t even come no where near the Japan CD.

I was like what hell going on here.

The promo are release for radios and marketing. The CDs are written sample not for sale are illegal in Japan.

Japan CDs comes with a OBI

    IMG_4396.jpeg

I got a non promo Japan CD retail version
    compare it with Japan promo.

Right side is a promo. Left side is a non promo retail version

    IMG_4397.jpeg

    The promo was more clearer.
So that’s mean the promo are made first. Only so many’s copies are made.

Then they made for retail for customers to buy.

Even though you can see printing quality on Japan CD Can be seen
Left side Japan CD and right USA CD

I could bet you any money those Japan records would have sound the best.

What I have noticed if it made in Japan people ready to paid silly prices for them

I have a cd made in 1995 brand new sealed made in Japan
            for 28 years old
Could never even think of that.

@Kasi it’s true — a lot of Japanese vinyl pressings I have sound amazing. As with most things, they’ve got that extra level of refinement.

                    Awesome purchases Mo!
The CD Content source and digi are identical in UK/Europe/US/Asia.
BUT there was a time when Japan had higher manufacturing excellence – better engineers, better QC, higher quality materials and a domestic consumer market that demanded the highest quality. That’s why they sound better! In my mind the attention to detail in the Japanese packaging was also better.
Kinda explains why if you bought Japanese CD’s back in the day, we buy Iron Heart now – both cut from the same cloth so to speak!

                      @IH-GARY

I did buy a few Japan CDs back in days.

That’s was from HMV big store Manchester the massive one.

Internet wasn’t available at the time.
Was really struggle. To get them in.

Know I know few people can get me anything I want. Downside they brand new.

                      Check this one Body Count.

Has copper killer on it. In 1992 in US LA riots happen this one was pulled of the shelf.

ICE-T and LAPD was at war at the time.

Very rare to get this one the price will be high.

People tend to think that HMV product was bought centrally and shipped to stores, this was true on the popular chart lines, but store staff could basically order what they wanted at store level - kind of crazy when you think about it! The HMV Manchester store buyers really knew their stuff when it came to Hip Hop, Rap, RnB. I remember they sold a lot of locally bought mix tapes as well - them was the days Mo!

@Kasi this brings me back to the times when I was buying the CDs on https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/
One extra motivation for me on top of what was already said by many in this thread was that the Japanese editions usually had some bonus tracks.

HMV those was definitely the days
The price was high at the time like £16.99 with stickers saying import, on the CD

Music suck nowadays. Make on low quality products.

Push out reissues on poor quality making money out of mass production on records or CDs
Even the tapes sound the best back in the days.

                            The record plants shut down.
They started up as if they know what they doing.

As Levi’s jeans done the same.

Seem quality is worn off. People want to spend money on shit now.

Most of the stuff is out of stock or print.

                              So I found this one
                              https://www.recordcity.jp/en

                              Use them twice.

Cheap but best to buy 10 or 11 CDs

                              Shipping fast.

There some promo’s going very cheap.

                              They definitely have extra tracks.
