@Jett129 , the drawing happened a half hour before the shop closed, last night. They usually do it earlier, and I thought I had missed out. Getting the call was a pleasant surprise. I picked it up, first thing, this morning.

@scooter Really like the E.C. Toasted Barrel, have heard nothing but great things about the Knob Creek 12 and await your review on The Bookers. Speaking of reviews...Have you tried the Jeffersons/Humidity?

This EC Toasted is a limited release, for the Ryder Cup, and is said to have a different flavor profile than the regular Toasted. The barrels were sourced from Europe, which apparently makes a substantial difference. I'll still be on the lookout for a standard release. I, too, have heard nothing but good about KC12. I have so many bottles, now. Who knows when I'll get to the Booker's. That review may take awhile...

As far as reviews go, since the beginning of November, I have opened 7 new bottles(5 bourbons, 2 ryes), and have had an oz., or two, of each. The Jefferson's Tropics is probably the one I was most impressed with. The nose has hints of cherry, cinnamon, clove, and caramel. Palate hits with the cherry and cinnamon, along with toffee and vanilla. I'd definitely buy it, again...

@scooter Thanks so much,as The Jefferson's was the one I was most interested in and It was on sale near me. Going to check right now and see if it still is. And after checking it’s still on sale for $84.99. Maybe an early birthday present.

@Jett129 , I paid $95 for it, and I'd pay it, again. I'd like to say, it should be in the $70 - $90 range. But, in the grand scheme of things, the $90 - $110 premium price point is becoming more prevalent. If you can get it for around $80, you're doing well.

Edit: When it's time to back mine up, I'll definitely be looking for a deal, too...

@WhiskeySandwich , I've been known to enjoy some toddies, on cold winter nights. They're fantastic when you're suffering with a cold, too. They're also a great way to down a bottle of whiskey you're not particularly fond of, as well.

this is a very basic version

6 cl brown rum (Plantation Barbados XO here)

                                      that's such a rebellious version @endo! i like it!

                                      If I could only pick one;

2oz Appleton signature (or 12 year if you're feeling special)
                                      .5oz Hamilton Creole Shrubb
                                      1oz fresh lime juice
                                      .5oz Liber & Co Orgeat
                                      .25oz rich demerara syrup
                                      1 drop 30% saline solution
                                      2 dashes ango

shake hard with crushed ice, dump, add ice to fill, mint springs, and the hull of one half of lime on top for garnish

The other favorite is essentially identical to the above, but I swap the lime juice for an equal amount of acid adjusted pineapple juice. Basically it's pineapple juice that has the same acidity as lime juice, created by adding the right amount of citric and malic acid.

I'll add that I really like that Hamilton Shrubb b/c it's made with agricole rhum. If you cant find that, then I'd use pierre ferrand's dry curacao, reduce the Appleton rum to 1.5oz, and add in .5oz of your favorite agricole rhum.
