@flannel-slut hell yeah man. You’re doing it. Half the battle is taking the first step. The rest you just learn as you go.

I started on the floor in my kitchen and quickly got in over my head as soon as all the floor joists were revealed and it was like walking on balance beams. Thank god for friends to point ya in the right direction.

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

@Mizmazzle fucking a man. Couldn’t agree more with committing to that first step (seems to be the case with most things in life). I want to take on my kitchen as well and this little bathroom has been an eye opener. No lie, I was thinking I got in over my head with the floor rot but slow and steady progress has been the approach.

Back on a good size project @ a waste water treatment plant. Treating exposed rebar on the clarifiers atm. Thankfully it’s windy but it’s still quite hot & horribly smelly. That’s my dad behind me in the green hi-vis. My turn to boss him around 😈

Edited to add - wearing 777N’s

@endo good question. Here’s a partial answer - I’m on a city and county project at the moment. For any projects under state, federal, C&C, & commercial my company is required to be in hi-vis and full gear where safety is a concern. Residential/personal jobs not so much unless stated. We basically need to meet OSHA requirements (Occupational Safety & Health Administration of Labor) or we get fined or worse kicked off the site & blacklisted. Also, it doesn’t look like it for this project, but it’s a very large site that’s expanding atm so lot of various contractors in the surrounding vicinity. Hi-vis helps everyone in the area be aware of one another esp. equipment drivers.

Edited to add - not every worker on this site wears hi-vis. It’s mostly construction workers or engineers/inspectors, which lets the actual plant workers, state/c&c, osha, etc. employees identify you.

Others, feel free to chime in if I missed anything.

This too, but unfortunately not all hi-vis has a UV rating.

I remember when Mighty Carmods shared that trick on one of their shows, I thought that was hilarious!

Another long and hot day at the shit show. The easiest part of this job is probably the most boring and monotonous, but an absolute a workout since whoever is applying sealant is carrying a +30lbs backpack while it’s super hot, stink & walking an average of 7 miles a day climbing stairs and ladders. Plus we need to stay away from one another esp if it’s windy bc once this product contacts skin it burns like no joke.

Very much so, yes. I tend to be in charge with coordination with the various parties onsite and getting my guys access to where they need to be and making sure things keep going in the timeline we have. Definitely more work and problem solving than the actual work involved considering the simplicity of the work we need to complete. Certainly calls for an IH splurge to make life good and well after it’s all said and done 😂
