I’m a little late, but my dad was the guitarist in Soul Asylum. Not too often you get to play with Iggy and Lou Reed on the same night, I think this is one of his proudest moments!

@SKT There’s a really wonderful book that I would highly recommend,called Why Charlie Watts Matters. Don’t need to be a drummer to appreciate it. There’s at least one memorable Charlie Watts anecdote.

Thanks for the recommendation I’ll definitely check it out. Had a friend see them last year (?) right after Charlie passed and said it was really moving. I saw them once in 2006 and it was rock n roll joy

@SKT I think to the average fan,probably 95% of the audience, a new drummer doesn’t make a difference,but 6 drummers in the audience are cringing,going that’s not right. I feel that way about Dax Nielsen replacing Bun E. Carlos in Cheap Trick,and he’s a perfectly competent rock drummer. Saw the Stones over the years. Big regret not seeing them with Mick Taylor. Rock n Roll joy is a pretty apt description.

@Matt Haha as a kid yeah. She actually directed a music video(I think maybe her only directing credit) that I was in for a second as a youngster. Always hoped our paths would cross when I lived in LA but nothing. I think she dated another one of my dads friends about 10 years ago...

I wasn't super careful with keepsakes as a kid but this survived the chaos and hangs in my office now -

The fact that it's still here today is proof there's a higher power protecting it already lol. Most of the cool stuff I had as a kid got pinned up to my bedroom wall and eventually disintegrated and thrown away.

I had one of these posters SIGNED and hanging on my wall as a kid. I shudder to think how much money it would've been worth today
