Anyone have experience with either of these two?
14oz Cotton Pique - Ecru vs the 21oz White. I’m looking for a light pair for summer jeans I could also wear to a sales job. I was leaning towards the 14oz being lighter fabric and living in a hot climate, was hoping the 14 oz would be more breathable but I heard the 21 oz is softer and more stretchy. Anybody with experience with either?

Comparing the regular denim 14 to 21 I think most people, myself included, find that the 21 breathes a bit better and is better in hot weather. I've also come to notice that the 21s less tight weave also seems to hold and wick sweat better for me so it somewhat evaporatively cools better too. I'd imagine the ecru/whites would be similar but not sure.

I think some of it might depend on where exactly you live and what you consider hot. Living in Texas, which lately has felt like the surface of the sun, I've found it hard to wear just about any IH denim. That said, I'm usually a glutton for punishment and can pull it off — but I'll say contrarily I find the 21oz to be pretty roasty. Everybody's different.

I haven't worn the pique but I bet that'd feel lighter. Total conjecture on my part though, I will admit.

Edit: I'll also add that for whatever reason, I find color denim to always be hotter than the regular indigo version, regardless of fabric. Not sure why that is, but it seems to be a thing for me at least.

I’m in Tampa, and it’s very hot in the summer upwards of 90-97 daily and I still not afraid to wear 25oz. Just would prefer something most breathable if buying white.

I was in Tampa a few weeks back wearing 21oz indigo jeans and an od 18oz cpo. It was warm but surprisingly not unbearable. I didn't exactly have a chance to pack more smartly due to an emergency but it all worked out. I've had a 14oz jacket in just as warm and humid places and to me it feels less breathable and seems to conduct more heat through the fabric just due to how thin and tight woven it is in comparison to 21.

Fwiw, I did another week or two in those jeans after Tampa and they started to feel gross, so I washed them. Guessing Tampa got it started much more quickly on a way to a wash. If I had a choice I'd personally be looking at other white pants for that climate. I grew up there so I do know how it can be.

good to know, as it same to me and was wondering why? will give example between 2:
                  21 oz 343s ib
                  14 oz 666 ii
the last few weeks is been very humid in L.A not much hot I am in west Hollywood / Beverly hills area and is been in the 78-82 but very sticky because high tumidity compare to the valley we are most of the time 15 to 25 degrees less
so any way my 21oz using the jeans all day feels like wearing shorts I have never see so comfy jeans and I have try and wear a lot of selvedges with all kind of weigh.
on the other hand the 14 oz feels like heavy and uncomfortable to wear in this kind of weather for more than an hour. with the 21 oz 343s ib I will have no problem walking around dead valley for a day LOL. what other IH jeans ate similar made like the 21 oz ib? as I think this is the most comfortable jean I have ever try, and I have try way more than hundred, well not all selvedge but the IH 21 oz ib from day one is perfect no break period at all just amazing wear and feel.

@peter4-ptv . It terms of breathability the consensus is, that the16oz slubby is the most breathable IH fabric. So give them a try. They are very different with lots of texture.

Thanks for the suggestion, I did bought the IH slub few months ago but return it because when I got it it look very familiar, so I pulled my
WSB-005 "Double Slub" 16oz Rinsed Selvedge Denim - Slim Straight Fit from PBJ
And to me they were exactly the same material by color and by touching the cotton identical denim, so I returned the IH back.
Thought I never actually try it on the IH.
