Okay, not sure if this thread means motorcycles too but I'm going to throw this out here and if anyone has
                any feedback please chime in…

                On Sunday I'm getting a 1953 ( give or take a year ) AJS 350cc from a old friend for $300.00USD. It's been sitting
in her garage for 20+ years and belonged to her uncle who bought it back in the 70's from someone in
England. Does anyone know if they make parts for this bike anymore or if it's even worth trying to rebuild?
Good investment? Coffee table? Or pig in a poke...

                Caller, you're on the air...

A complete heap of shit. But I'll take it off your hands if you like 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Seriously, what a great buy.  I'd definitely try and get it sorted if I was you.  I can help with parts if you like:

Nice find that AJS.  My first bike was 1950 AJS 16MS, which is about the same bike you're getting.

You can get parts from England, and possibly also there are suppliers in States also. (Matchless is same bike, different name)

Thanks G, Goldtop and of course our bike specialist IJ! It may even be a 500cc, I've been looking at sites online
and after seeing it briefly back in Oct. of last year it looks more like a 500. I think $300.00USD is a steal, my
friend's uncle wanted $1,500.00USD originally but I told him to pretty much piss up a rope since parts were
                            hard to come by.
Her uncle lost the title in a house fire so he needs to get a duplicate issued and he can't find the keys
either so it'll need a whole new ignition, other than that it is complete and ran when it was parked back in
the 80's. I'll be seeing her this week and will get some pics! 🙂

You can't tell which one it is by looks. You gotta find out the numbers from the motor block. Get those, and I'll tell ya what it is.

If my memory serves me right 1953 didn't have a key, just a switch you rotated in the headlamp. So, if you mean ign/light switch, just replace that with correct one.

That's great IJ, thanks for the link! I'm pretty sure it's a 1953 as I remember her uncle told me it was back
in Oct. when I saw him last. I'll be able to get you the numbers from the motor block as soon as I can
get a look at it in the daylight. I sure hope it doesn't need a key, would make things a lot easier!

Thanks for all your help and expertise! 🙂
