@goosehd I used to wear a button with Ted Nugent's picture on it that said if it's too loud your too old. He may have even coined the phrase.

@weftyarn One thing I've found with your photography,is that it 's usually worth it to take a second look,as that's ,sometimes when you find the little nugget that makes you smile.

Thanks guys! It’s so awesome to see how many of you actually look at my posts and find shots they like - means a lot and keeps me motivated.

@Jett129 Man, that Hollies track is awesome! Perfect road trip sound too, added to my vacay playlist.

And yes, now that I think about it I realize most of my really great shots are „through“ something. Windows are a always a great opportunity for story telling.

                        @Heavy_blue thanks mate!

I started with photography in 2018, so I‘m actually still pretty new to this. But as with clothing I was really lucky to very quickly find my style and never bought cheap. As my first kit I got a Sony A6000 together with a Samyang 35mm f1.2 & Samyang 12mm f2. I was on a low budget and did not want to pay a ton for something that I never thought would evolve into such a great hobby, so that‘s why I went for manual primes over AF primes. And apart from saving money it was also perfect to learn the basics of focusing, depth of field etc. At some point I figured out how to manually prefocus and do no-look street shots while walking with the camera literally swinging in my hand, which is awesome for street photography (nobody notices you…).

So that Sony A6000 was the Edwin/Nudie of camera gear so to speak.
And after having figured out what a great hobby it is, I wanted the IH of camera gear (if you leave Leica out of course haha)

So in 2021 I then switched to a Fuji X-T4 together with the Fuji 23mm 1.4, Fuji 56mm 1.2 and a Meike 35mm 1.4 (manual). 23mm is now my absolute favorite focal length and 95% of the time i have that lens on my camera.
My father also uses a Fuji (X-T2), so I can borrow his 35mm 1.4 (which above pics are shot with). On the wish list are the 90mm f2 and the mighty 16mm 1.4.

So yeah, still on prime lenses and probably will never change. It makes you work / walk and together with the nostalgic user concept of the Fuji X-T series with all the dials etc. it is the most fun photography could be for me.
Too many options kill the shot.

                        Post processing is really simple.
I have my own custom in-camera film recipes, shoot JPG only and only very rarely edit my pictures (other than cropping). For the limited edits I make I use Affinity Photo (highly recommended alternative to Adobe PS).

This turned out longer than expected haha.. Hope it helps 😉

                        Use it or lose it.

@weftyarn Great post. We’re kind of photography opposites in that I never shoot with prime lenses, everything is shot in Raw,which requires editing the image, although I try to keep that minimal. Use editing software called DXO.

@Jett129 thats interesting indeed. I had a phase too where I would spend hours with edits on a single shot and export different versions etc… Id probably still love the process but hardly find the time for it and am so happy when I can just use and share the pics out of the camera body. Shovels some time free for chess and other hobbies that demand time and concentration.

                                  Use it or lose it.

@weftyarn When I was younger, being able to develop my own film and print my own pictures was very important to me and actually helped keep my photography a little more cost effective. Throughout a big portion of my life I either had a darkroom or had access to one. I guess that has stayed with me into the digital age, in the form of editing etc. I really enjoy it,although I can’t imagine ever going back to developing and printing my own images.
