@Brian as @louisbosco said, it doesn't make a lot of difference between having a UK and Australian passport when travelling to Europe. I flew into the UK on mine last time, despite being a British citizen, because I'd travelled via the US, and I didn't want it to appear as though I'd disappeared somewhere between SF and London.

You will need an Australian passport to leave Australia if you're a citizen. If you're not, you'll need a year or two for that to come through, and you might want to apply for one of the new blue British passports...

I'm going to be in Orkney and Shetland during the first half of August. I'm trying to decide if I'll stick around until September. It really depends on what I'm doing.

@Heavy_blue, i would recommend to look for a Hotel north of the Elbe River. By the way, just now had a look on the webpage of the Motel One and seems rooms can still be booked for 8-10 Sep.
