Feeling great after a 2h walk to break them in a little! Pre-wash, there was an annoying excess of fabric in the seat, which I was very aware of whilst walking...

Completely eliminated now, with no noticeable loss of indigo in the wash!

Thanks again for the advice everyone.

@T4920 they look much better now. Glad you got them to shrink up. I dont think I realized you hadn't washed/soaked them yet. That's what I get for not reading the thread thoroughly.

Stranger just complimented me on how 'smart' my jeans looked. First time that ever happened 😂

Gotta say, I think I nailed the cuff on these...

@darbycrash No it does not and is a necessary step. Edit (Here is the reasoning): The recommended method with UHR is to soak first, then wash. This because it is loomstate. The soak activates the cotton fibres and embeds the stitching, the wash gets the shrinkage out.

or they could just word the care instructions more specifically in regards to these (the care pamphlet i received only explicitly states this is necessary for the 25oz). i like having the ability to initially soak and wash them myself.

thats cute you think im a "dummy" for asking a question, isnt that a big reason the forum is here in the first place? this was a big investment for me and i plan to wear them for years, so i didnt want to make a jack move.

nice, good to know. also, that's interesting, never thought to try and dig deeper on what industrial sanforization processes looked like really.

i dug up as much info as i could about the UHR's and the necessity of the inital soak before asking the fading question, but am a little OCD maybe, so just wanted to get verbatim answers to things i was wondering about before i got started that i couldn't find already discussed. i appreciate it.

The care guidelines that should have been included in your package are the same ones found here:
                                        https://www.ironheart.co.uk/content/product-care-guidelines

Here is the paragraph about raw (UHR) denim:

Raw Denim (by "raw" we mean the fabric has not gone through any post-weave processing at all) -raw
denim is sometimes referred to as "loom-state".
Iron Heart raw fabrics are: 21/230z Ultra Heavy Raw (UHR).
                                        • Soak inside-out for an hour or so in a bathtub or large sink of hot water and drip dry.
                                        • Hand wash, or machine wash on a relatively short cycle (max 40°C/100°F) with low or no spin.
                                        • Shake/stretch item to ensure no creases before drip drying or drying flat on a clothes rack
                                        • Do not tumble dry (this is likely to cause shrinkage and White marks).

There is a slim chance you got an old version of this set of care guidelines, and if that is the case I apologise. We update these somewhat frequently, and try to be diligent in removing old ones when we do, but a box may have slipped the cracks.

However, I see that not everyone will understand that they are joking with each other and mean no harm.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we have member guidelines that all of us should be following. One of our primary rules is to “not be overtly sarcastic or rude”. Those guidelines are found here: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/topic/6491/member-guidelines

@Kasi I am going to give you an opportunity to publicly apologize for your tone in the posts in this thread and hope that we can all move on a little stronger than we were before.

Typically I like to praise in public and reprimand in private. However, I think this is an opportunity for all us to admit our errors, learn from them, and make it a learning/teaching experience.
