I’m debating between this jacket or the 14oz Overdyed. Two different beasts I know but can any one offer any opinions or insight. This one seems unforgiving but there’s so much love for it on this thread. Does it ever soften up much?
It depends in what you want in a denim jacket. 14oz OD is a great choice if you are going for a comfortable out of the bag feel. 19oz Lefty is for someone who is down to break in a cardboard like heavyweight denim armor.

@Oaktavia got ya--tbh your fades really got me leaning towards the lefty but I don't know if I truly want to go through that kind of break-in. The 14 or even 21 type iii would probably get much more wear. Appreciate the feedback. : )

@Salted-Racer if your leaning in for a od jacket and also in doubt for a 19oz lefty.. mix the 2 and go for a 19oz lefty od? The od process softens the 19oz a little. A indigo 19oz breakdown is rough, brutal etc. but all worth it imho. My lefty is my favo jacket, period!

Interesting @Heavy_blue , never occurred to me and that might just be the ticket. This will be my first jacket from Iron Heart. I've been scrolling through this lefty thread and, although I doubt I'd ever be 'unhappy' with any IH type iii, I worry I'd have a case of FOMO if I don't take this plunge for some body armor. I'm seeing some great laying images on this thread so I think that would help with break-in as well.

@Salted-Racer it’s my most favorite IH item. It stays crisp even after a lot of wear but the way it folds to your body and the way it kinda ‘softens’ up is incredible. The OD vershion holds the same character but it’s a bit softer straight out of the bag. But if the fades from the lefty is what you’re after that has something to do with the crispness and cardboardie thingy especially for the indigo version.

@Salted-Racer I was having a similar debate a few weeks ago (between Lefty OD and 14oz OD). And went for the 14oz. I was worried a bit that the 14oz is too light or soft for me. It is not. It definitely is comfortably out of the bag and it has definitely more heft than you think. Combs are setting in nicely already and I am sure there will be great fades incoming. Maybe not as sharp as what @Oaktavia is showing us here. But that'sjust sick;-)

Good question.I have only soak it.. before wearing it
No wash for now.
Am gonna let it ride for now. Till summer see how its goesOn very hot day am gonna cold soak it so dry up quickly within hours.
So more indigo flakes off.
The heat of the sun will tan the colour differently.
Take it from there.
For those always complaining about the jeans, try this jacket then talk.
But in my case am double denim at work.
Go heavy or go home.
Warning buy at your own risk.
This is not for everyone.
