HAYIT - How Are You Isolating Today.
-
In my profession, there is no work from home. So, my daily routine is about the same. I'm currently working in one of the local hospitals. We are renovating the 5th floor. We are screened, each morning, when we arrive. As far as isolation goes, I do spend quite a bit of time 10 to 12 feet up on a scissors lift. It's like your own little island….
-
And that is exactly why I'm going in to the office until they drag me out and lock the door…
Well, that didn't last long. "Work At Home Quarantine" policy in effect until further notice.

Been at home all week as the youngest had a fever, probs not C-19 as she also had a very chesty cough. However school asked to her to be off, and then for the whole family to isolate for 14 days.
Like many of you, we are now now waiting for our employers to catch up….although the wife's are more used to homeworking, Remote access in terms of IT from my employer is overwhelmed.
Trying to adapt as now the schools are shut looks like the family will all be at home for months...

For us, yes, they are just organising things, so far it sounds like it would amount to some tasks which are an hour or so per day (I am guessing at this stage) and some to be done once a week… Certainly not a full ciriculum, and well, If both parents are working then tbh fitting it all in including meals, shopping etc is going to be a challenge anyway.

As a matter of interest, those of us with kids in countries where schools are shut, is there digital teaching, e-learning etc being provided by the schools?
Yes. Maxi is 14, schools in Austria are closed since Monday. He has digital teaching and e-learning daily and has an online study-group with ONE of the girls of his form ???

So with all this prepping and people going nuts, we were left without any change for our cash registers… Although most people pay with their card, there are always the few persistent ones who refuse to use a card...
Anyway: banks are open, right?.. Usually I go once a week, Thursday morning, to the bank to get some change... Never an issue... Yesterday my collegue decided to go, as we needed a lot more than usual, and she had her car... Cool... She comes back emptyhanded... The bank was open, but the separate booth for us wasn't... We had to make an appointment ànd THEY TOLD US THEY WEREN'T ACCEPTING CASH MONEY. THE BANK ISN'T ACCEPTING CASH MONEY.
Anyways: my chef makes the appointment for today, and tells 'm to credit the company's account... My other collegue had to then pick up the money this morning... I was there, picking up a videogame that had been delivered... I see her leave, and just as I'm about to go back home, she's already back... emptyhanded... They told her they didn't know anything about the appointment, and she didn't have power of attorney to access the company's account et cetera...
HOLY FUCKING COW... WHERE'S THE FUCKING HIDDEN CAMERA BLOOD??????
It only took one very poignant mail followed by an absurdly short phone call by me to the bank to rectify the situation... Collegue hopped back on her bike and was off again... Succesful return this time...
More bank-related nonsense... Got a notification saying my online banking account wasn't going to be accesible anymore soon, due to me using Windows 7... Since I'm also doing the banking transactions for my mom, I decided to update to Windows 10... It's a fucking cow, BUT after a year of having worked with both a broken mouse and a broken keyboard, I plugged in one of two I had bought earlier but could't get to work with Windows 7, and it nows recognises my brandnew, cordless toys!.. Didn't even have to download owt...
Anyway... Long story short...

I get to go to work. Thank goodness. I don’t sit still very well and the weather here is still lousy.

Our son is almost 5. He will still be going to school as my wife and I are key workers. His school have done what many in the UK are doing, preparing online home learning kits. He will be doing the same learning program at school to ensure there is equity in all pupil's learning.
As a family we've developed a few activities to hold long term interest. Today we are going to the woodland behind our house to identify one part of it that we can monitor from spring through summer until this thing ends. We'll record any plant and animal life on that piece of woodland, and research our findings. Our son will love that as it will keep him stimulated.
