Tore out an old 12x12 deck in our “sandbox” of a backyard… rebuilt it as 12x20 and doing a grill island / bar at the end for the Green Egg.

Wife planted greenery all around - as we came to the conclusion grass will never grow..

Next week is stairs, and a few paver walk ways and then time for pine straw and relaxation.

As someone who has never really built anything other than skate ramps before buying this house last June, I’ve been amazed at one you can complete with beer, YouTube, and some patience.

Sweet! Yeah it’s a great learning experience. I’m pretty much self taught. It can be hard and frustrating but nearly always ends up being very satisfying. Good luck with the stairs, they can be tough to get right.

For me, the old adage, "measure twice, cut once" is modified to, "measure four times, recheck the plans, cut, swear extensively, buy more wood, repeat as necessary".

Your project looks much more well done than that.

Just wet my beak , as far as the Fedora world goes, by getting the Stratoliner not long ago.
Love wearing that hat…but you definitely need the balls to pull it off.
Not many can rock that look well. But when its right...its not a bad look.
