Iron Heart WAYWT - 2020 Edition
-
I just did a quick comparison check from the forum last year, and were on page 47 of pictures and comments in WAYWT 2019 on Feb. 11. we have some catching up to do.
Let's get some damn fit pics up in here!!!!!
Marginally slower than last year we may be, buy there’s some glorious outfits these last few pages. That being said, perhaps it’s time for some alliterative silliness…
Wednesday is incoming and to help us over hump day anything that alliterates with «W» is a go.
«Wabash Wednesday» is the classic, «Wesco Wednesday» is for the boot lovers, «Waistcoat Wednesday» is for the dandies. Certain people around here live in that kind of gear, but for the sake of inclusion I’ll accept «Workwear Wednesday» or any other «W» repitition you guys can come up with (with the possible exception of «R*d W**g Wednesday», after all, this isn’t Instagram... ).
Who’s with me?

great idea @neph93. i'm in for "Workwear" Wednesday.
and though Red Wing, MN is just a 45 minute drive from my house (soft spot in my heart), I agree they are below the boots we see on here re: quality.

Good man…
They make a decent enough shoe for the money, but their ubiquity makes amongst denimhead confuses me a little. On a personal note, most of their designs are not to my tastes.

I don't have too much issue with Red Wings, I own a couple of pairs myself. Honestly, owning a pair of Vibergs, I can obviously see a difference is build quality. £400 worth of difference? Hmm, maybe not.

It works just fine @neph93 looks good dude

Did you say Wabash? I am your man…

RW are ok, you can spend a lot more money for much worse boots. They have a good insole, they do last a long time, looking better with their years, can be repaired and the price is ok. Honest boots I think (I can only speak of the Moc's). There is more work done by hand, more difficult constructional details and more pricey leathers used with Wesco, White's or Lofgren… you get what you pay for.

Thank you, friend. These are the Horween British Tan Chromexcel version. I’m just starting the break in process. I will say, these are my first pair of higher end boots. I have a ton of Red Wings. The difference in quality of build and materials is wild.
Also, you’ve got me looking into which vest I need. Total inspo.

@FairlyVague I’ve never seen or touched White’s IRL, but the profile, design and workmanship look very nice on IG etc.
Regarding the short discussion earlier in this thread, I don’t want to pee on RW as I think there is a lot to like for the price. However, the dollar upcharge on mid tier boots like White’s, Wesco et al, while considerable, is totally worth it. I don’t quite see why guys spend $400 on top quality jeans, far superior to the likes of LVC for example, then wear the boot equivalent of LVC with them. But that is just me.
If you ever want input regarding vests then let me know. I reckon a type III vest or or N-1 vest would suit you down to the ground. Or are you thinking more of a work vest?

I never really thought about the difference between Red Wing/Whites/Wesco until I held a pair of Wesco in my hand. It’s crazy how Wesco/Whites/Role Club etc can make a work boot feel cheap and thin. Sorry Red Wing. I’ve given you plenty of my money…Get over it.
As for vests....I’m seriously considering the IHV-34 black hunting vest. Type III vest don’t work for me. I feel like they’re too boxy and I’m too boxy. I wear typeIII jackets. But I can’t do the vests. I bought and returned the deck vest a few weeks ago. Decided I didn’t need that and this schott deck jacket.
