It's a funny old world.
The Saturday before last Les, @Steve and I got the lantern onto the roof.
I was ecstatic, we were ahead of schedule. And I had made a great big list of things that Les could do whilst I was out of the country.
Sunday, Les texts me from hospital, he's on a drip and had he not been bullied into going to A&E by his wife, may have died. We think it was a spider bite that went bad.
He was let out on Wednesday and told not to work until Monday.
So he was due here yesterday morning. I got a text "My dad died last night, I won't be in"…....Holy fuck, what a week for poor Les.
He phoned me today. He'll be in tomorrow. Trooper.

Was talking to a friend yesterday, they have a friend who's a painter and decorator, he cut himself at work (nothing big) but ended up in hospital, 12 hrs later he's was in a coma for 9 weeks and has lost both legs below the knee and most of his fingers due to sepsis.
Take care out there.

A few years back I got a pin prick sized puncture wound from something while clearing an area of scrub land behind my home. A day later my arm went hot,red prickly and a red line started to show and grow slowly up my arm. I went to the doctor and the look on her face said it all! ???
They put me on some high strength antibiotics, she even made sure she watched me take the first one and nagged me to ensure I completed the course.
A bad infection can be very serious, it's worth being aware of the signs.

Exactly what happened to Les. The Doc said that had he left it even one more hour it was 50:50 whether he would have died….

I had MRSA staph after surgery a few years back and it wa the worst I ever felt. I had a high fever for 2 weeks and they put me on Cipro. Infections are scary

In Les's absence, we have poured the liquid screed and got on with first-fix electrics. I took the opportunity of adding some jury-rig lighting so that if that lazy sonofabitch ever comes back to work, he'll be able to see what he is doing.
Tomorrow Carl and the brickies should lay the coping stones. They are 890x360x100 (one-weathered to 75), so we will have an interesting discussion in the morning as to how we get them to the top of the scaffold.
Les should also be in, so we can get on with his long list of things to do….

What da hell..came in here to see the goods & now I don’t ever want to go outside.

Reuben. First "significant" balls-up. I'm chilled. Les, of the spider bite and dads death, is away for 2 weeks from Thurs next week. New glazed modules will be ready on Tues PM, I have to drive 40 miles to pick them up, but then Les can install them before he goes away. All is good in the Gozza-hood…..

@Madame Buttonfly and I got the disc cutter and the sledgehammer out yesterday, made a larger hole in the garden wall….There's an arch and a gate going on there.....
-
All this construction talk is gonna make Reuben explode…. heh

Have you tried using an online calculator? They pretty good as long as you aren't doing anything particularly complex.
Yes, but there are some constraints that I make sure I cater for. Obviously, total drop is important, but I also need to build a stud wall at exactly the right place to meet the bottom riser. I know it's not rocket science, but I want to be 100% certain before we start cutting….
EDIT - Found another that is perfect for what I need - thanks
