I was lucky enough to pick this up on its first release. Couple of hundred wears later and it's still like new.

How different is this one from the IHJ-39? Just curious I guess 🙂

Hi, Im having a really difficult time deciding between XXL and XXXL.  The only IH reference I have is a XXXL 18oz denim shirt and a XXXL western flannel.  Would it be unwise to go with XXXL ihj-75 based on those two shirts? Thanks

Either would work, depends on what you want to wear under it.  Personally, I'd go XXL and just wear it over a T, but then I'm extremely lazy and can't be arsed with doing up shirt snaps/buttons most of the time….

Thanks Giles,  I'm located in NYC and it occasionally dips into the low teens (thats in F, so -12..-15C )..would you say this jacket is warm enough to wear over only a tshirt in such temperatures?

With those temps i’d consider layering. No jacket is impervious to subzero temps.

I think you'd need to add a layer.

I'm curious about this, especially considering the current SE sale and stocking of size small. My standard of warmth would be my Canada Goose Skreslet parka. @Giles, how would this stack up? Also, sleeve measurements are super long but there isn't a shoulder measurement. I presume these are just from the neck or something? If so, they're still pretty long sleeves?

It's very warm, but I have never worn a Canada Goose, so I have no idea how it compares.  Yes with raglan sleeved items, we measure to the centre of the neck.  We have used the wrong sizing chart (that does explain that), we'll get it fixed

My Mk1 (IHJ-39 Mountain Parka) being worn on Friday evening. This is my "go to" winter coat and I've lost track of how many times it's been worn. It's still like new.

it is not possible to stay warm with this jacket and a t shirt, from my experience with the ihj-39.

i live in philadelphia and have experienced such sub zero coldest winter days a few times in the past few years, i think might be okay with another long sleeve sweatshirt but not a t shirt under the jacket alone, the ihj-39 is warmer than the real mccoy n1 deck jacket, and seems to perform better when windy.

So stoked to finally pick this piece up. It’s been on my list for a couple years and when you live somewhere as cold as I do a warm winter coat is a necessity. Oh the earth that actually get colder the North Central Iowa in the winter I am.Look it up if you don’t believe me but it just gets cold with ice snow and frigid air. Now I’m actually excited for some cold weather so I can try this baby out, maybe I’m crazy!
