IH-634S-21BLK - 21oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Black/Beige

The jeans have had about 60+ days of normal wear and have just had their first machine wash. The first thing to say is that this is quite unique and luxurious denim. The brown weft gives a much richer, warmer colour. The softness and weight means thick, rounded creases at the knees and front top block, and it drapes beautifully. It’s weighty, tough but comfortable all at the same time. It certainly doesn’t have the stiffness if the 21oz super black or SBG denims. As with the indigo 21oz it will age wonderfully with time, I’m sure. I love wearing these jeans.

It's worth mentioning that this denim isn’t super quick to fade, nor will it give very high contrast fading. It’s IH classic 21oz which is stubborn to begin with, and secondly the black dye doesn’t seem to come out as easily as indigo. Finally, the brown weft means the contrast is more subdued.

That isn’t to say it doesn’t fade at all. The attatched pictures show my wallet pocket and the beginnings of roping:

Those are unfortunately narrower than the 634S in the thigh & knees… Not sure it will work for me... Super bummed about that.

Aside from the fact that they are unwashed, they are wider in the two tag sizes I glanced at which I think you sit in the region of? You won't lose all that much through the leg, I wouldn't have thought. Tomorrows shrink test will reveal that for sure

The W34 634S is 13.3 in the thighs and 9.5 in the knees for a 34 waist. This one is 12.8 and 9.4 for a 34.5 waist (W33). Am I missing something?

Only that the waist will likely shrink more than the other measurements, so if you stay on the same tag size and wash you would end up with a similar leg (i suspect). Like I say, until we have shrink test results, we won't know for sure.

Not bad .. the shrink test results give me some hope back … a 60°C treatment could be a solution.  ::)

Really interested in the color of these but the shrink test scares me a bit, especially in the thigh reduction.

@neph93 : curious as to how much these stretched back out after washing?

It behaves very much like regular 21oz so there is stretch. They will go back to pre soak size at the least.

Just ordered these. Should I give a pair of these in size 34s an extra 1.5 inches or 2 inches at the hem for shrink purposes?

Should be good with 1.5”.

I'm going to try a size 34. If I can shrink the waist and keep the thigh & knee measurements pretty close to what they are, it should work. Really excited about the fabric…
