The denim used in all variants of XHS is exactly the same weight, the same warp and weft yarns are used in all types.  Dying the yarn changes its characteristics and makes it considerably crunchier/stiff than the undyed yarn.  Thus a denim woven with both yarns being dyed will feel, crunchier and stiffer than a denim with an undyed weft….

@Giles - Great information there.  Ive always felt that XHSib is stiffer & harder to break in than standard XHS.  I'm still very hopeful we will see Double Indigo XHS someday.  XHSii is my grail denim

Yes, I did get a new pair of boots! Well spotted. My custum built Wesco Jobmasters arrived in August. I'm very happy with them, but I still wear my Iron Rangers too.

Hey all, looking for some insight:

These are my 555XHSib after a couple years. They're great. In fact, I have a couple 555, and a pair of PIH5DCT.

So, I like the fit of all these. But for my next pair, I'm looking for a little more mobility in the thighs - can anyone share any insight?

I also have some 634 work pants that are nice and roomy (but a little too much so).

@thincrustpizza somehow I didn't realize that when i/b forms holes, the black frays will show instead of a typical white. That's pretty awesome.

777 would fit the bill. Similar measurements to the 555 at the top of the leg, but a gentler taper resulting in a wider knee and therefore more room/mobility. There is then more taper from knee to hem than with the 555.

I have the 777XHSib, 555S-21ib and the 666XHSib and I feel the top block in the 666 is the only tight you’re going to feel in it, all other dimensions are far from the 555 cut. If you want a mix in between, go for the 777XHSib, you will have the slimmer feeling of the 555 but with a little more room on the thighs.

My experience once I've tamed all three cuts is that the 777 in 25oz moulds like a second skin to your legs, the 666 fits your bum like a good pair of hands and the 555 in the 'lighter' format is like a pair of sweatpants that fades.

Using the 21oz iterations in w34 as a bench mark the charts give the following:

555: thigh 12.6 knee 8.3
777: thigh 12.5 knee 8.7
666: thigh 12.1 knee  8.8

So while the 777 has a marginally smaller upper thigh measurement, the volume of the leg from crotch to knee is greater. Ergo, more room.

The volume of the 666 is comparable to the 555 but the top of the thigh is actually slimmer, while the knee much wider.

That's because the weft is not white

Wish I had the talent of y'all to capture the nuances of this denim.  Still wanted to share a few pics after a recent wash.  I've had this pair for a little over 2 years.

WOW - these look amazing. The front stacking/honeycombs are crazy! Are getting these types of fades only achievable from a '555' strong taper type fit?
