Nice! @Chap I have seen similar looking mushrooms in the forest around my city, but I'm not sure what they are exactly. What do you do with the ones you have in your photos?

Cheers @Oaktavia here they are called Birkenpilz or Rotkappe which is birch boletus or lat. Leccinum versipelle

We will roast them and eat them with polenta

Here is a cauliflower I found this morning but it was too buggy with eggs on it and looked a bit old. First time finding one I was thrilled.

Found a few chickens too but they were too old also

Yep @Oaktavia they are nice but what I know about the ones growing here they should not be to old if you want to eat them.

Lots of interesting looking ones growing where I’m staying this week. No idea what any of these are so leaving well alone. They also look better than me in photos, but I’m not going to get jealous of a bunch of mushrooms

I experienced mushroom poisoning many years ago, and I'm not talking about the psilocybin producing varieties. It was extremely unpleasant, to the point where I started to think death would be preferable.

I still love mushrooms a lot. 'Amateur poisoners' not so much.

Edit: This post is just a friendly warning to anyone who is thinking of doing some amateur mushroom hunting, or is offered wild mushrooms. In my case, the person who collected them was well known to me and insisted they were safe to eat. Several people were badly poisoned and it could have been deadly for a child or elderly person.

There are at least three types of mushrooms growing on our pile of decaying woodchips we use for mulching our gardens. And snails. I think one is a wood ear but I'm not certain. That's the kind of mushroom found in hot and sour soup but I dare not. I didn't take photos of the third kind because they were not so pretty. Beer for scale.
