Yes, Matt @Winchy and Mariana and kids (Alex now 8 and Rosie 6) came to stay yesterday, and we spent late afternoon/evening on Pilgrim - we were delighted that Alex and Rosie loved being on board, I was afraid they'd be scared when the boat rolls about a bit (especially when we get a lot of wash from other boats) but they loved it and started jumping up and down!
The sea was chilly but invigorating. Lots of fun had by all

omg haven't seem matt in ages. think it's been about 5 years. hope they're doing alright

@Madame Buttonfly Thank you Paula! See you next month!!

So the generator on the boat was cutting out after about 5 minutes. I could find no obvious issues, but @Ian72 said that it was most probably a knackered impeller. He very kindly offered to look at it whilst P and I are in US…..
New v old......
Now the poor sod just has to find the missing bits, because they will be in the cooling system somewhere…...

Paula and I have bought @Alex and Kira over to Cowes for the night. Their joint birthday treat is a meal in a v good restaurant we were introduced to recently and they get to stay in the hotel overnight. P and I will slum it on Pilgrim.
I hope one of these boats wants to leave before us in the morning, that is the only way out

Pilgrims Torpedo launcher out of order ??

Just the one can. I have not needed to run the genny, but @Ian tested it before he left the boat. I asked how long he had run it for, he said one can of cider. My reply was something like, 30 seconds is hardly a fucking stress test…..
He also upgraded the port and starboard nav lights with LED bulbs, I think they'll see me leaving our Marina at night from Calais.......

Jeez, just trying to get some insurance quotes for the new boat. One of the insurers came back with this:
Please provide a detailed nautical CV of the owner or usual skipper. The sort of detail underwriters would require would include details such as the approximate amount of time spent yachting, the size and type of vessel/s, whether as skipper or crew, and the cruising area/s involved, notable extended passages, details of the level of experience skippering overnight or in hours of darkness and any offshore experience. Please note that details of qualifications alone are not sufficient.
My reply was that I am not applying for a job as skipper on a super yacht….
