Definitely one of those learning days. That article I posted was from July of 2021 in an interview with Mr. Mage (or his PR team). Even on the current website there are references to production in Italy.
Reminds me of a discussion between G and Haraki regarding production in China and the overall reactions. If I recall correctly, why does it matter where it’s made if I put my name on it and it’s a good product.
I’m sure G can/will correct that quote. @Giles

They’re not using the same factories that churn out Luxotica brands when they do. Italy has been making quality acetate and frames for a long time. No shame in any Italian producer good enough for JMM

I feel that JMM is committed to quality, craftsmanship, and stewardship from my readings about the company (from their own website, and various interviews). It sounds like a situation that whomever makes their product goes through a rigorous process and the final product is worthy of the JMM name/branding.
My pair are top notch and easily the best glasses that I have owned frame wise…I still like Maui Jim glass better (polarized) for on and around water.

My optometrist swears by Maui Jim lenses.

They’re amazing lenses, even the CR39. And still an independent manufacturer. Nothing but love for Maui Jim, as good as it gets for mass manufactured shades, and best lenses in the business IMO.
JMM tickles a different itch and the lenses I’ve experienced are damn fine. The lense colors seem more about service to the colorway and design than being a performance lens like MJ. I really do love my bronze lenses and think they’re pretty close to MJ, sans polarization.

Okay, I've been off of this thread for a few weeks. When I left, Kasi only had like 4 pairs, and now he has 9. Who was supposed to be watching him?!
I picked up two pair since I last checked in: Taos x Hopper in hickory with light blue lenses and the Enzo x Squarzi in black with green lenses (just like Pipeboss'). Both fantastic. I'm at 4 and I think I'm going to stop here (stop snickering, I'm serious!)
I found a local shop that carries the brand. They've been helping resize them for me and doing such a marvelous job of it. Unfortunately, they're constantly out of stock. I feel terrible using them for resizing only. I gifted the optician a Starbucks gift card yesterday as a way of saying thanks
