Giles and Paula's Great Retirement Adventure
-
Hi Dennis.
We try and cruise at about 10 knots, though we had 14.5knots speed over ground (SOG) earlier today, as we had a lot of current up our chuff.
At 10knots we burn about 40 liters (about 8.7 US gallons) per hour, Pilgrim will do a max of about 18 knots (and burns about 120 LPH, so we try not to do that too often).
We are currently moored in Poole Harbour, I guess we have done about 40 miles since yesterday. Winds gusting to about 20knots, so a bit lumpy at times…..

Dennis, I’ll jot my thoughts down when we are back home.
Currently having to keep south of the naval firing ranges. The range safety craft has been on the radio checking we know to keep south of 50 33.5. Seen one yacht who did not know they were firing today, get a bollocking

Paula looking like she's already at home.

Left Poole at 08:00. We motored to Lulworth Cove (remember it @twin ?) …..
and hung around for a few hours whilst we waited for the firing range to open so that we could motor across it. To get into Lulworth we had to get very close to the restricted area again, so our friends the range safely officers got in touch again
This time they actually came to eyeball us close to, after we had moored the cove…
We pratted around, playing with the rib etc and left about 30 mins ago…
Now, we heading east along the Dorset coast…..
