I grabbed a pair and absolutely love them made more than one should love a pair of pants. I typically wear a tag size 34 but had to exchange for a size 36.

Really thinking about adding these to my non-denim lineup. Those fit pics look straight flattering!!

        Coming from the 21OZ 888s,
anyone here who has both pairs and can suggest how to size the waist?
Does the Cargo sit higher/lower than the 21OZ, requiring a different waist?

I love the slightly tighter thigh/knee/hem,
so waist is my only concern.

        Thanks in advance  🙂

The top block sits a little trimmer than with denim versions, not so much because of the cut, but because of the fabric. Also, you may consider measuring your work IH-888S-21 and ordering the a pair of these that matches worn/stretched out measurements. The whipcord does not stretch.

            Thanks for your help @neph93

I’m sure now that the 34 would fit perfectly.
Can’t really justify another purchase atm though…  😞
but with 8 pairs in stock there will be some time for my mid to change  😅

I’m just now discovering these for myself and I have to have them.  I’m in a bad spot size wise.  I haven’t bought pants for over a year and in that year I’ve lost about twenty lbs from eliminating junk food from my diet and staying active (who knew!?!). Now I can’t use any of my pants to negotiate the sizing chart.  I’m not sure what to do for these.  Any thoughts?

Absolutely no stretch in the whipcord. Have you been using a belt? You could judge the waist by measuring that.

Yes, zero stretch and a little shrink after the first few washes. Err on the size of “could be too big” and they will probably look ace

My OG 38s are SNUGGG while I’m an easy 36 in 888s and 777s. The new version has a larger waist, but know the hips and thighs won’t stretch like jeans, so look at those too!

Thanks @sabergirl and @Appfaff  The belt idea could help. I’ll reach out to the crew when I get home from our trip and see what we can work out.

I’ve always been a 34 except when sizing down one was warranted like with the 666II and my 777D and 777V&S.  It seems like previously I’ve stretched my waists to a 35 but now I’m swimming in everything.  The 33 with a 34 measured waist that won’t stretch in these seem like it should work but I could very well be a true 33 waist now and need the 32.

I’ll see what the crew can do with my belt measurements and any other info o can provide.  Thanks.

Swear there should be a “tell me what to get out of X or Y” thread. Having limited funds but loving IH is bittersweet, you know whatever you buy will be golden, but can’t help from thinking about the stuff you had to pass on along the way…

Been eyeing these and the 555-SBG s for a while. Can only afford one. Which is more deserving of my cold hard cash? I can’t decide!! 😢

@jerkules - I hear ya.. I benefitted from some "This or That" threads on lesser quality forums in previous decades for sure..

With that said, my vote would be for these. Rationale being that 1. There is no guarantee they will be rerun again, especially in this color. 2. Cargoes are usually a once a year thing anyways with IH, so they are already a coveted thing from the beginning. 3. The fit is just 100% damn perfect, and the fabric is wearable in most climates.

I love SBG, and would recommend grabbing some sooner than later, but if I had to choose (Which I theoretically do in my closet) I choose these over my SBG more often than not.

Post up pics when they arrive!

These are on the way so I only have experience with SBG.  That said, not having SBG is simply not an option.  I agree with the above sentiment though.  These aren’t a sure thing in the long term and seem to be more weather friendly.  I’m also thinking these will be great for hiking.  The super slim fit black on black 21 oz denim, not so much.

@Appfaff  - thanks for the advice man! I heard you on the podcast saying how much you like these pants, and your fit pics here and in the WAYWT thread really helped in selling them to me. Not that I needed much help…

To make it a bit easier to make your decision, here is faded and worn examples of both fabrics side by side.

I believe the SBG to be one of my all time favorite denims - however, the way the olive whipcord evolves is something of beauty, especially in a rustic yet refined silhouette of these tapered cargoes.

Really appreciate that @Appfaff - you’ve inadvertently made the decision harder though 😃 both look glorious in your photos and I can’t decide.

Easiest option is just to get both, but stagger the purchases to avoid spousal fallout. Since the 502 is potentially limited, I’ll get this first. The 555-SBG can wait a couple of months.

                                          Cheers all!
