No, of course not. Just asking because I sized down and didn't soak yet. How could I let go of this beauty?

even with a hot soak, don't be surprised when the shirt shrinks more after a machine wash, even if that's a cold or lukewarm wash

I think G had the same experience I did. I gave mine a good hot soak when I first got it and it shrank a little. After about 2 months I threw mine in the washer cold and it shrank a good bit more, which I'm happy about.

I think G had said something to the effect of this denim takes some agitation to get all the shrink out and that would be my experience.

            A super shirt, enjoy.

Agreed.  From what I've read, heat does shrink cotton but the fibers shrink more in conjunction with agitation because the fibers bind together more from the motion and then the fibers dry this way.  Wool for example will shrink much more with agitation too for the same reason.  I found an article online (a good one from a trade publication, not a bullshit one) a while back that I can get the link for if anyone's interested.
It is likely that these shirts would shrink better in the old style drum washing machines too because the action is much rougher than the new front loaders.

                    RIP, Geo

I think Giles and I are having an unspoken contest on who can wear theirs the most 😉

I'm only one wash in on mine. The denim is oh so buttery soft, probably my fave IH shirt.

I washed it once or twice upon purchase just to shrink and soften it up some.  I haven't kept track of how many washes its had, though.  I'm not a big fan of micromanaging how I wear/wash clothes.  Just wash it when it stinks or smells.  But if I were to guess, I'd say at least 4-5 washes.

Can't wait until mine starts to get some character! I wear it every morning while walking the dog and everyday after work for a few hours. Wish I could wear it to work, but I'm not sure how it would work with the tie. Maybe I should give it a try  😉

                                  Here's your plan:

Find a school / facility in your area that works with kids with disabilities. They need money. Talk to someone there, find a specific need they have, be it toys for a rec room, art supplies, whatever.

Then approach your boss and propose a Denim for Disabilities day. Employees get to pay for the privilege to wear denim to work, be it a $1 or $5 per day, maybe on Fridays, maybe weekends, whatever.

Then you have some stickers or badges or whatever that say Denim for Disabilities. Who's gonna complain about that?

You get to wear your IH denim to work. Kids with disabilities get money. We get to see evo.

That's a win-win-win situation, which is the best kind of situation.

We did it at work (hospital). Two weeks. $1/day. I wore my IH jeans for 10 straight days. Every once in a while someone would do a double take, but once they saw the sticker it was cool.

Extra bonus occurred as well… a few days I went full tux, wore jeans and my 08 or 27 shirt... it was a bit of a joke, I even paid extra those days to wear double denim, but I set a denim-shirt groundwork, and now I'll wear those shirts every once in a while with chinos, usually Fridays, and nobody bothers me about it.
