Dry camping this week at Tonto.  No electric or water.  I actually don’t mind because we have to put away the Keurig and get out the French press…

Ha, that’s just what’s shoved in the tiny closet.  There’s also stuff shoved in the tiny space under the bed, tiny overhead compartment over the bed, various cubbies and baskets throughout.  I long for a walk-in closet.  I may have to start putting stuff in the freezer soon.

Lots of Palo Verde trees at this spot.  Palo Verde translates to “green wood.”  That seems like lazy taxonomy to me…

Time to open this totally normal size can of cherry stout from Belfry Brewery in Cottonwood.  It smells amazing…

Noticed the Parks Project sticker - that was founded by two guys I used to work with, a great little company!

Yeah, we thought two would only be twice as hard.  We were pretty misguided there.  Thankfully I took the appropriate steps to prevent a 3rd interloper.

Their particular brand of obnoxiousness becomes more nuanced each day.

Parks Project is awesome.  Whenever they sell them at the park I try to get a shirt.  The one I got at Joshua Tree is a favorite.  They had to drive an hour to a closed visitor center to get my size and bring it back for me. I’m sure I only wanted that one because it was the only one I couldn’t have.

My wife and I plan on revisiting a few of these spots when we can hike more than 2 miles without a total volcanic mood explosion.  When I post pictures of the kids, it’s always at the beginning of the trail.  They are slightly less photogenic at the end.  Lost Dutchman has some epic longer trails.  One of them recommends gloves for the last 10 yards!
