Would that work for these or are they too thick and heavy for that kind of thing?

        Cuffing XHS is no problem.

Here we go! The most intimidating pair of pants I've ever owned. The difference between these and my 21oz feels much more substantial than 4oz. Very excited to finally have these. Any advice for an XHS newbie?

Congratulations. I know exactly what you mean regarding those 4oz. It has to do with the tightness of the weave amongst other things.

Personally I advocate soaking of XHS. There is some shrinkage left in them so you might as well get rid of it. Follow the instructions on the A4 sheet you got with them (you’ll find them on the forum and website too).

The buttonholes can be a challenge the first couple of times, pliers can save your fingers a bit if bruising.

Otherwise, just wear them a lot!

Thank you @neph93 @Paul9221 @zhivago. These were crazy stiff after a hot soak! After some initial awkwardness, mental and physical strength, ridicule from my partner, and some yoga, these are starting to take shape nicely.

Yeah, but that was a long time ago. It lasted maybe the first six months of this particular hobby. She now treats these things with the same uncaring disdain as she does my ability to spot all the references in The Mandolorian, my need to taste all the cakes at a birthday party, and my encyclopedic knowledge of 80’s post-punk, metal and crossover lyrics.

My partner is bemused. Given she wears £30 high street stretch denims, I don’t tell her the price of a pair of IH. Lol. She is, however, impressed with the quality of the product. And loves the Storm Rider I recently brought.

So I struggled to get the top button but I got it. It measures to 37.5. Will the denim stretch? I am also loosing weight. Should I stick with the slim cut or opt out for the 634xhsib. I wear boots that are quite chunky and feel like the tapper might be a little much. Any advice. I don’t like that fact that the 634 are mid rise.

Top button struggles with XHS are totally normal. It often feels too small first time regardless of measurements because of this and the stiffness of the waistband. The denim will also stretch with wear, about one inch.

888 isn’t a slim cut. It has similar thigh measurements to the 634. But it does taper. The 634 has a fairly small top block compared to the 888.

I wear Wesco Boss with double mids with my 888 all the time. The taper is real but the hem isn’t as small as on slim-tapered cuts.

Yeah my thumbs hurt a fair amount from getting them buttoned up but I think I’ll stick with these. I also tried on the 555xhsib but they started to get too tight in the thighs when I was pulling them up even though they are bigger in measurements. These jeans are extremely stiff but they look amazing. I currently wear a pair of bravestar jeans but these are something else.

I don’t want to wash them but will they soften up as I wear them?  The only place they really fill stiff and tight is when I bend the knee. Other then that I have no complaints.

I will post a picture on here with my wescos tomorrow.

The thing with the 555 is that the taper to knee is sharp. So thigh measurements don’t tell the whole story, the whole upper part of the leg is hard.

The XHS is not a denim for the faint hearted. If it is super comfy the first time, you’ve done it wrong. So what you describe sounds about right to me.

Washing or soaking will not soften them at all. I don’t know where that myth comes from (Reddit?), but any decent denim just gets crispier after a soak and dry. It certainly doesn’t work for XHS. The only thing to do is to wear them.

                                            Looking forward to seeing pics.
