      @Hefner some good info here…

      @acboston Congratulations, this is pretty great denim. They are your jeans so your choice but I would advise getting the shrinkage out now. It is going to happen at some point, unless you plan on never washing them, so why not get it out of the way first? They may be uncomfortable for a while but they will stretch out to or past starting measurements with wear as @Paul9221  illustrates in his post.

        Thanks for the tag, Reuben!

        For those that have both the 888S-OD and the 888-XHSib in the same tagged size, which one ended up bigger once they were both broken in and all the stretch accomplished?

        Much appreciated!

          Oooh, good question!  I have both but don't wear the OD as often as the XHSib. I can only offer my guess, which is that the OD will stretch more. Based solely on the fact that my XHSib gave very little on the thigh while the 21oz gives a lot.

          Blanket-line all the things!!!

            So I'm looking at these for my next pair.. I currently have the 888s. These would be my first 25oz. My question is about cuffing. I normally don't get my denim hemmed and usually double or triple cuff. Would that work for these or are they too thick and heavy for that kind of thing?

                Cuffing XHS is no problem.

                    Here we go! The most intimidating pair of pants I've ever owned. The difference between these and my 21oz feels much more substantial than 4oz. Very excited to finally have these. Any advice for an XHS newbie?

                      Congratulations. I know exactly what you mean regarding those 4oz. It has to do with the tightness of the weave amongst other things.

                      Personally I advocate soaking of XHS. There is some shrinkage left in them so you might as well get rid of it. Follow the instructions on the A4 sheet you got with them (you’ll find them on the forum and website too).

                      The buttonholes can be a challenge the first couple of times, pliers can save your fingers a bit if bruising.

                      Otherwise, just wear them a lot!

                        Glove up for the buttoning. Pliers are easier, but I think a little pain adds to the experience.

                        Wear em. Do some sqwats, don't sleep in them. repeat.

                                Thank you @neph93 @Paul9221 @zhivago. These were crazy stiff after a hot soak! After some initial awkwardness, mental and physical strength, ridicule from my partner, and some yoga, these are starting to take shape nicely.

                                          Yeah, but that was a long time ago. It lasted maybe the first six months of this particular hobby. She now treats these things with the same uncaring disdain as she does my ability to spot all the references in The Mandolorian, my need to taste all the cakes at a birthday party, and my encyclopedic knowledge of 80’s post-punk, metal and crossover lyrics.
