…after 'wrangling' the 25oz XHS's this weight feels pretty tame neph! Great weight for a jean jacket.

...been thinking about the 'Ton' method, form fitting by wearing a soaked jacket until dry, but I gotta imagine this thing is going to bleed black big time! You'd have to wear it buck naked because the bleed would wreck anything you'd be wearing underneath it! :o 😃

…gave it a wash. Hang dried. Worked out nicely. 😉

Looks amazing Vaquero! Just picked mine up yesterday and I’m curious about whether the wash softened it up a bit for you? It’s so stiff that I can’t get my hand in the pocket when unbuttoned unless I use both hands 😅

@Tuefar the 21oz superblack is probably the stiffest, most stubborn denim IH makes. The only thing that tames the beast is wearing it. A lot.

Great fit on yours, and a lovely match with the shirt.

Thanks @neph93 🙏🏼 But like. Would a trip to the ol’ washing machine soften her up a bit besides? I imagine breaking it in just be wear will take a lot of time. Like I literally can’t get my hands in the pockets and that just seems sort of unpractical 🥷🏾

Not really, and yes it will take a lot of time.

As for pockets…. I’m of the opinion that type III’s don’t need them. Not that long IH didn’t have them on their type III’s.

I would recommend wearing them and forcing the pockets to work for you. They’ll give in eventually.

I rarely use the hand warmer pockets but the inside pockets as a result of the handwarmers are the reason why I only buy and wear modified type III’s

I wore my 21oz non fade III last year all winter and it can still stand on it’s own  😃
                Wonderful versatile jacket though

…Hey Tuefar! Neine! The wash didn't phase it! A beast to be sure. I just had the 'Storm Rider' delivered recently and that jacket is like wearing a litter of kittens compared to this baby! 😃

...your jacket fit looks spot on my friend, wear the hell out of it! It's up to the task! 😎

Guess I’ll live in this suit of armor then 🤷🏿‍♀️ Ah, the troubles of only truly loving black denim jackets (heresy, I know) 😅

Wearing mine every day for about two month now. It definitely softened up a lot. Its not really soft, it's true, it literally still stands on it's own (I just tried it out) but it's waaaay easier and more comfortable to wear then at the beginning. Did no wash no nothing.
                      Great jacket!!

Perhaps I'm asking in the wrong place but has IH ever made or planned to make a double black Type III which can fade or one that can both fade and has also been overdyed?  I'd imagine that a 14 oz version of would give some strong 'rockstar' vibes.

There was a 526sbg—21oz black fades to gray.

…for curiosities sake I thought I would see which Type 3 out of all the Type 3's offered by IH in my size (XXXXL) had the shortest back measurement.

...it turns out that its this jacket. No wonder it's the one I purchased. 😎  (Dec. pic)

…also it seems there's a separate and older thread for this jacket, is there a difference in the two? ???

Are you thinking about the IH-9526j ? In which case, I can explain… the original series of Iron Heart type III’s were the IH-526j (21oz indigo), the IH-9526j (21oz super black), and the IH-526j-OD (overdyed 21oz). They were all very traditional designs, short length. No side pockets.

They were made extinct about three years ago. The IH-526j and IH-9526j were replaced by similar jackets but with and inch or two more length and side pockets. The lot numbers were updated with a «P» for pocket in order to differentiate.
