Finished up this partitioned off room in my shop space today! All materials are beetle killed/standing dead local spruce including all the framing and joisting. Turned out pretty handsome I think.

Thanks Giles !
The alternating treads can take some getting used to. These stairs are hinged and will be on a block and tackle in order get them out of the floor space.

Helped a friend with the raising of this timber frame carport today. Again all materials are local beetle killed spruce.

@stingraygun Is the woodworking what you do for a living? And I guess what most on here are interested in - do you wear IH gear to work, and how is it holding up?

I’m going to be disappointed if it’s not a car…

I’m primarily a timber framer by trade. This particular frame was designed and cut by a friend of mine and he just needed some extra hands with the raising.
Initially I found with IH jeans being at a higher price point I might not want to scrap em up too much but that quickly turned into occasionally working in them and then to not babying them in the least. They are tough and only gain more beauty with rowdy wears.

Amen to that.

This frame was for what appeared to be a very wealthy client from California. I’m not sure what’s going in the carport but it will likely have a large price tag.

I did not design or cut this frame. Most of the layout I do for timber framing is French scribed as a lot of the materials I work with are wildly out of square and/or live edged pieces.

Here’s a frame I cut last fall.

Very cool stuff @stingraygun. We’d love to see pics of examples you’ve designed!

Thanks goosehd ! I work with another guy who does most of the design work. We were really pleased with the how this turned out. The handhewn curved tie beam pieces and curved braces really make for a beautiful space.

Scribed structures are arguably more involved and time consuming which can lead to them being a bit more expensive than other frames. With scribing you are able to utilize organically curved, twisted, out of square, and otherwise discarded junk material that make for incredibly artistic spaces when completed.

WIDY (What I did yesterday). I had my UHRs signed by Haraki at the anny party but even Edding is dissipating after some wear… I want to hold on to that memory so I had a little hand embroidery session yesterday evening.

I'm happy with the result and I am confident it will stand strong against wear, washes and whatever is thrown at it.

Eventually I want to finish the Japanese part too, but I don't really know what the characters are meant to say and I don't want to mess it up. I want to understand it before I do something with it. Can someone help me?
