I had a beer aged in Heaven Hill barrels recently, an Imperial Stout by the Ukrainian Varvar Brewery. It was hands down one of the best things I've ever drank! Now I've just gotta try the Bourbon itself…

A couple of shots from my Bourbon Trail Bucket List Trip.  Dipping my bottle at Makers, and standing in front of Heaven Hill, wearing my IH-555 21OZ Black/White jeans.

Looks like a good time Arthur! Also reminds me of a song…

@Jett129 Very nice!  Do they take you behind the scenes to the whisky aging areas?

Absolutely. Really fantastic tour, which ends with them giving you 5 different kinds of Makers to try. I also drank my wife’s. They really do it right.

Is there a specific kind of Maker’s that you liked more than the others?  Are there offerings there that you can’t find in general distribution?

I know that Blanton’s makes a few bottlings available for Duty Free and overseas markets (or used to).

              Looks like your having fun!

I found these five on the website and was wondering if these are the one’s you tried?

They didn’t have Makers 101,but we had Cask Strength 46,and one of their Private Select bottles. They currently have 2 new experimental bottles, that will be very rare/hard to find in the stores. My favorite is the Cask Strength Makers.

While the main reason for my trip to Louisville,KY was to drink bourbon,my wife and I are also huge horse racing fans, and took the opportunity to visit Winstar Farms. At one point in the tour they bring out one of their stallions for pictures. In the first picture my wife is petting the horse who’s giving me the side eye. In the second picture he’s saying…You think you’re bad with your 21 ounces… and the third after my wife told him not tonight honey. Thought some of you might get a kick out of these.

@Jett129 Couple of things…That looks like an amazing stable and the horse is outstanding.  Looks like everyone was having a good time  😃

Side note: My summer job while going to University was in Equine reproduction and studying the hormones involved in the female during pregnancy...I'll save the details to an in-person conversation over drinks... 😃

The horse, named Improbable, was quite successful on the race track, and I think he was hoping to be more successful with Bonnie, especially since mating season had ended back in July. He wasn't having such a good time. It was a drop dead gorgeous Fall day,and they take you all around the grounds, where you can see the yearlings and all the other horses in their paddocks.

Smut aside, that is a beautiful animal.

@Jett129 first off, that pic alone was worth the trip 😂. Second, I’ve always enjoyed Maker’s and their “46”  which I haven’t had in a while. I saw in another thread that you visited Woodford Reserve too?  Did they have any interesting bottles that aren’t readily available. Sounds like you guys had an awesome time!

I knew going in that Woodford had a a distillery only offering, but alas it was totally sold out by the time I got there. They said they were in the process of getting some more ready, but did not know when that would be. This was hands down our best small trip ever. Also visited Beam,Michters, and Heaven Hill.

Woodford not having that available gives you a sure fire excuse for another trip!
