No worries all good times.. @jerkules would recommend joining a local running club meet up once or twice a week there be able to give you guidance and hopefully a training plan for the marathon, club races are great XC even better that’s probably the most enjoyable. I ended up joining a racing team called Micky Morris Racing Team (MMRT) definitely brought me along . Some of the best runners in South Wales the guy who set the team up Mathew Collins run London in 2:25 something 5.25 per mile first Welsh runner across the finish line that’s incredible stuff.
Definitely be a huge achievement something your never forget.

@goosehd Great North Run is by far the best race I have entered amazing atmosphere did that 2 years in a row driving up from South Wales with the family the one year I entered my two lads to do 1k or 1.5k race can’t remember the distance on the Saturday and they cried all the way around lol but had a nice T-shirt and medal at the end even though the T-shirt was pink

Only just seen these pics @Jcaz6996 they are class! I certainly will not look as good as that come Sunday. I have had a pretty bad bout of covid so have been hovering on the button to defer my place up until today, when I have made the decision to do it - walk/very slow jog most of it and try and enjoy the occasion as much as possible…. my sub 4 hour hopeful time is well and truly out of the window (truth be told it was well, well out the window prior to this last week, but now I have a ready made excuse). Good luck to anyone else taking part as well

Cheers @AdamC they were good times don’t think my wife would agree though would literally come home from work go straight out the door to do what ever I had down on my training program loved it great feeling to run at a decent pace comfortably. you on Strava?

Mate when I run for MMRT ( Micky Morris Racing Team ) I was the slowest there lol those lads were incredible most run for Wales .Just looking at Strava got to scroll way back to 2016 to see anything decent from me. Tried to get back into it a few times but it never really stuck .

@Jcaz6996 the occasion was epic, the atmosphere electric and it was quite emotional and very inspiring. I ran next to an old couple for a while who were pushing their son on a large stretcher with all sorts of medical equipment, the cheers and support they were getting made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and I was holding back the tears, some people are just incredible. The run on the other hand, was painful and crap
I made it around which was my goal, the final time was 4 hours 49 minutes. I was in agony from mile 16 and (sorry for too much info) but I wasn't able to go to the toilet on the day, my belly was causing me all sorts of trouble for the last 1.5 hours. But the crowd got me through, it took a huge amount of mental willpower so im very proud that its done, and I can safely say I will never EVER to one again. Though I have signed up for the 3 peaks challenge next year, which is the 3 highest peaks in the UK - Ben Nevis, Scaffell Pike and Mt Snowdon - in 24 hours glutton for punishment -
@Jcaz6996 It is TCS London marathon now, im not sure what TCS is. The medals are really nice!
Legs are in bits, im normally a fast walker but I walked into work from the ferry (via a cafe for a bacon roll) and it took me about 5 times as long
My sister in law is a sports therapist and was going to give me a sports massage when I got home but I chose bed instead, probably not my finest decision
