      Love the selective color on the leaf pic!! 👍🏽

      Here’s a small selection of yesterdays hike from Wallberg to Risserkogel.
      I don’t know why, but I somehow felt like taking many B&Ws.

      // Not many height meters. But a perfect Sunday „scenery hike“ //

      // The small chapel where our hike started //

      // 360deg scenery, the goal always in sight (highest point on the other side of The Valley, too left corner of the picture), also lousy B&W Ansel Adams attempt //

      // On the ridge, fantastic view to both sides //

      // Final steep section to the top //

      // The top //

      // No, I will not share my sandwich with you //

      // Top view aka lousy Ansel Adams II //

      // Back down //

      // His and hers //

      Use it or lose it.

          My first time getting up for the Sunrise,this year. It really was this pretty. Took a phone shot which is unedited,because I thought no one would believe me. This is First Light about half hour before Sunrise 12K ISO.

            @Jett129 For many years, I always thought that paintings of Sunrise’s and Sunset’s near water were exaggerated interpretations of what artists saw when painting.  I discovered how horribly wrong I was when my wife and I built our home on the shore of Lake Ontario.

            Some of the most beautiful colours I’ve ever witnessed have been since we moved here.

            You were able to capture the colours wonderfully.  Thank you!

              Thanks! The funny thing is that I’m out there all by myself,and can’t believe how beautiful it is,and my main thought is don’t fuck this up. There’s really about a 10 minute window during First Light,when it can be absolutely stunning. Quite often,though there’s a line of clouds right at the horizon which are getting in the way of the shot. Not the case this time.

                Look for the days in the winter when the sun is low in horizon (late November - mid January) for days with the clouds you’ve witnessed.  The sun will illuminate them way before anything else and make the clouds glow brilliantly.  There’s even a shorter window for the colours in your picture, but add in the glowing clouds and it’s breathtaking.  I’ve only managed to see it 10-20 times in 10 years, but definitely worth the effort.

                Sadly I’ve never been able to film it correctly as I didn’t have a camera with me or I didn’t capture it at the right moment.  Extremely tricky.

                  Sometimes those tricky shots are best done with a long exposure,which requires a tripod,that I’m not willing to bring with me. I like to walk around and change my composition and perspective. I’ve seen long exposure sunrise shots that are just breathtaking. I guess it depends on what you’re willing to do.

                    The long exposure makes a lot of sense…

                    I too would not want a tripod and try to set the picture up, as I enjoy being in the moment.  It gives me the ability to change my focus/perspective quickly…

                      …prettiest sunrise I’ve ever witnessed was driving through Mt. Rainier National Park at sunrise.  Those colours, clouds, snow, mountains, and spring flowers.  I stopped the car and just set there to take it all in.

                        @Jett129 This is the only tripod I own and it’s fantastic.  Extremely well built but light enough to throw in the camera bag.  It will easily handle our Canon 5D with some of the heavier (shorter Focal Length) lenses.

                              It's one of those things where I really don't like to use a tripod, but occasionally need one and it's great for those instances.  Family pictures on a timer and it's ace and could be handy in those tricky pictures.

                              I appreciate the advice on the longer exposure and may try that this fall winter when the evening and morning skies really starts to play it's magic.

                              I said it a while ago, but the Leica fixed focal is my favourite camera because it makes me work for the picture, but the Canon is the goto for my outdoor nature shots.  Also can't lie to say that the iPhone has made taking off the cuff pictures a lot easier and more convenient.

                                That’s one nifty tripod right there. I love my big Rollei Carbon, but sometimes it’s just way too bulky.

                                Use it or lose it.

                                    Big fan of your street photography especially the last shot which I pretend cropped a little to focus on what interested me the most. Not really sure it’s better. Just a matter of personal preference.

                                        Great shots, @Jett129 👍🏽

                                        I totally understand how you cropped the pic of the mom
                                        With her daughter. Definitely emphasizes the main subject.

                                        I don’t know why exactly, but I’m heavily preferring portrait format over landscape lately. Gen smartphone??
                                        That’s part of the reason I didn’t crop any further and quite like the result.

                                          Candid shots of some devils in a local bar. Canon R5 w/ EF 50mm F/1.2 L. Taken at F/3.2, 1600 ISO. 1/60s on the first one, 1/80s on the second.
                                          I took the mirrorless plunge! Upgraded from my venerable 5D Mk. III (which I'd bought new all the way back in 2014!) to an R5, because they're a lot cheaper here. It's a very different beast for sure, but I love it to bits. Cannot recommend it highly enough, if you're able to throw that kind of money at a camera.

                                          This last one is not my picture, but it is a picture of me (plus a few others) that I think turned out pretty good. Our attached ComCam guy took this picture of me 'popping my cherry' during a recent training evolution. I'm manning the #1 position, pulling the lanyard. Metadata says Canon R6 with an EF 24-105mm F/4L at 24mm, F/4, ISO 640, 1/8000s. Identifying patches/insignia have been obscured, for obvious reasons.
