Double Oaked is delicious. Never had Rock Hill Farms. Was it expensive?

I’ll try some of the double oaked this weekend for sure.

Yeah, it’s not bad at retail…. But you know how the bourbon market is especially if it’s Buffalo trace products

Rock hill is Blanton’s rarely seen brother. Similar mashbill but supposedly a little more age on it, and slightly higher proof. I’ve Been looking for years and everywhere I ask just get laughed at

I thought Elmer T. Lee was a Blantons sibling…Same mashbill, just a different place in the rickhouse, and maybe not aged as long. I have a bottle that a friend loaned me.(Told me to drink half) He,somehow, paid $49 for it. I've seen it for close to $300 these days.

It is a good one @TheKingHarvest ! IMO it is a bargain for the quality and rarity of the cactus (tepeztate, which is wild and grows on cliffs, so hard to harvest–plus you have to wait 25-35 years for them to mature).

A friend gave me four of these glasses for my birthday, one with Jerry's hand, one with dancing / playing terrapins, one with a stealie, and one with a 13-point bolt. I really love them. Their friend (whom I now know) made them. She does great work!

I think Rock Hill the exact same mashbill as Blanton's, including 15% rye (which I always appreciate). I miss being able to get it easily for like $50 or so. Those were the days I could get Thomas Handy rye for $75 or Hakushu 12 year for $60-80.

I just stick with Four Roses and Rittenhouse these days for whiskey because I can no longer justify the hassle and prices. Which mostly means Sazeracs and Manhattans for the rye and old fashioneds and Boston sours for the bourbon instead of sipping neat.

          But mostly mezcal 😃

          Think it, be it.

Yep–I think Blanton's, Elmer, and Rock share this mashbill, and there may be others @Jett129

Yeah, basically everything he said above. Lol

I believe retail on rock hill is somewhere around 60, I was a little more but not crazy.

It’s insane how some of these have prices have climbed

I checked it out as well, and you're right, and I think there were 2 others that share the same mashbill. There's plenty of really great bourbon out there that doesn't cost a fortune and is readily available.Lately been enjoying the Old Forresters 1910,and 1920,which are both readily available and reasonable. Blade and Bow is good,Cask Strength Makers for $39 is a steal, and in my opinion makes the best cocktails. Been on to Four Roses for years as well.

Four roses and Makers are so good! I need to revisit the 1910 and 1920

I really enjoy the four roses barrel strength private selection also, they are a great value for lots of different mashbills. They usually have a few different ones at the distillery too[emoji2]

I’m going to be selling my Harley tomorrow, and will be using some of the money to fund a Bucket List trip to Louisville,KY,so I can visit some distilleries and Churchill Downs. This bourbon is really good if you ever come across it. It’s from the new company started by Jim Rutledge, the former head distiller at Four Roses. I paid $129 for it.

Thanks @scooter,but I’ve got 25 years and over 100K miles under my belt. It was just time. I just didn’t see myself riding it enough to justify the insurance etc.,and I hate driveway jewelry. Sold it to a great guy,who really appreciated everything I had done to it. I couldn’t watch him drive away with it. Love the 1920,as well as the 1910,both,in my opinion very good bourbon values.

I’ve moved to Scotch Whisky’s over the past few years after mostly drinking (and loving) bourbon. Looks like we all need to meet at your place for a dram! 😂

The “open shelf” is pretty healthy and the collection is growing and remarkably offering a pretty good return.
