Another thing I've noticed is that the warp and weft is rather loosely wound compared to other denim, so that when a hole develops, the warp/weft is unravelling much faster than ordinary denim.
The one small hole I had - and fixed by placing a patch of denim on the inside - stayed about the same size for another 3 months. In other words - weaving extremely solid.
I, too, am surprised by LVC outlasting IH, generally speaking… My pair of SB denim is holding up like a champ through all kinds of abuse, including cycling.
I've had my mom sow a patch of denim on the 9301s, but the hole kept growing so now I've got double patches (inside and out), bought me a month, but the denim is now unravelling next to the patches…
I never had a single pair of jeans crotch-damaged, even after years of wearing and even the lamest of them. I think it depends on the owner. Everyone has his crucial points. Mine are knees and pockets.
