Gorgeous mate, straight to jail if you were caught with that in the UK without good reason. Shame because nothing beats a fixed blade

Anyone got any experience with a Para 3. Just ordered one with a solid discount on it, never had a knife from Spyderco before 🙂

I have one… it was my first proper folder in fact, scored off Giles a few years back. This was a special edition using 52100 steel, which is NOT a great steel for a noob like I I was then, nor is it suitable for Norway (rust issues).

All that aside though, the ergonomics are sublime. Light, very comfortable in the hand, easy to choke up on and use for precision work. Despite its size and weight it feels like you’re using a BFK (big fucking knife). The blade design is great too.

          Mega! Cheers @neph93

The one I’ve ordered has S45VN. I’ve had S35VN before, presumably this is even better, because it’s 10 more init?

Isn’t that how all things work? [emoji38]

I have a hard time telling the difference between S45VN and S35Vn, etc. I think for someone like me it's all the same, @LewisStonehouse. What do you use as a sharpener?

@henry_david I sharpen my knives when I visit my Dad, he’s got an extremely over-engineered (and ridiculously expensive) jig that makes it a doddle. Can’t remember the name of it, I’ll ask him and report back 👍

@neph93 love that knife.  The steel is ball bearing steel.  Very high tolerance.  Don’t fear the rust.  It’s just knife fades.  Have you mastered the spydie flick?

I have learnt that. Although funnily enough, I learnt it on an MKM knife. I was playing with it one night and figured that if I do «that» then «that» it should flink and it did. I then remembered reading about the spydie flick, Googles it, and had that Gen X superiority rush. It was nice.

Just received: Jen Anso small slipjoint (the model name is Monte Carlo), with an orange G10 handle. Jen is a great designer and his execution is flawless.

Exquisite, @JDelage. I'd never heard of them and so gave the knives a look. Just … wow. Beautiful design and lovely finishing.

I just received a kitchen knife from a San Diego, CA based company called Half Face Blades. I was gifted a fixed blade at Christmas and wanted to buy one of their kitchen knives. Made with S35VN, the blade has been given a black cerakote coating along with a paint splatter look. Truth be told, I didn't want this one (I think that it's functionally wonderful but ugly as sin), but I won accidentally on eBay and … well, here we are. I may re-list it and get rid of it.

Just got this yesterday. I do have to admit to a bald spot on my left forearm. Just used to get shavings and kindling for a fire. Then had to use it for food prep, just to see if it could. Now cooking over the fire.
