Congratulations @neph93. I couldn't imaging going back to serious study now. @goosehd has slightly beaten me to it, but there is definitely a case to be made for celebrating each paper individually!
Given the details of our conversation on Saturday evening, your version of serious study and mine probably differ somewhat. But thank you!

I don’t know if it’s hope or stupidity, but we’ve booked a family vacation to the Caribbean for a week (winter 2022). We also added a trip cancellation policy in case of…
Just cancelled the trip…
It's the proper thing to do with the kids, variants, and politics...
Still holding out for the UK in the fall!

Atlanta, Barcelona, NYC, Puerto Vallarta, Santa Fe, and Telluride with the family first half of next year. Hoping for a vaccine for the baby and as needed boosters for the adults.
I have no idea what will happen second half and certainly reserve the right to cancel all of it.

shitty part is the politics…Canada is announcing new policy today restricting international travel (rightly so) and I don't know if we made it down there we could make it back or vice versa.
Kids are single vaccinated (double before trip), Laura and I are double (and in January will be triple).
We weren't schedule until beginning of February but had to pay for the remainder of the trip by Dec 28th. Had to make the call...
I know it's the right decision, but...I just want to go back to some kind of normal...

Probably a good call just to be safe @goosehd it sucks to cancel what you and your family looked forward to but as @neph93 said, it's the decision I would make too.
In other news, I picked up our marriage certificate yesterday and chose Friday, May 13th 2022 at 1:00pm for our civil ceremony at the courthouse. We are ordering our Good Art rings today as well. She went for the 25 small and I chose the 25 regular. Matchy matchy!

Great news @Oaktavia and a great choice of ring

Unfortunately this is now normal @goosehd. I don't know where you live but in the States there's a large pool of stupid twats who think -actually, referring to their mental activity as thought is ridiculous.
On a positive note the unvaxed are dying at a steady clip. Every cloud has a silver lining. -
I'll warn you that I'm about to boast.
My niece Susannah McLain graduated high school last year. She's been an excellent swimmer and student for many years. She applied to a number of top-tier schools, and in part due to a bolus of applications post-COVID after many students deferred college as the pandemic unfolded, she wound up getting iced out of all of her choices.
She is such an amazing person and so deserving that it broke my heart for this to happen. But she never even considered playing the victim or feeling sorry for herself and instead immediately went to work interning on an EMT team and further padding her astonishing credentials (ridiculous GPA and SAT scores in addition to her athleticism). Then, she discovered that she is a natural rower. She progressed this skill so quickly during her gap year that rowing coaches at elite programs around the country were heavily recruiting her.
Today I am overwhelmed with pride to share that she just got accepted to her parents' alma mater, Yale!
I can hardly contain myself, so if you'll excuse me here while I get this pride out of my system
