Favorite parts are Vinnie's hacking a butt and stubbing it out while jamming, then later twirling this stick back from a matched to a traditional grip so seamlessly around 4 minutes in. His four-limbed independence and effortless polyrhythms here remind me of a story Steve Vai told about him site reading this impossible Zappa chart flawlessly, pushing his glasses up his nose, and popping a piece of sushi into his mouth off a flattened music stand without missing anything. Zappa tossed his sheet music in the air and walked out of the room exasperated.

And RIP to another true master, Chick Corea.

I love that Vai interview re: Zappa.  I’ve watched it many times. (Edit: I can’t find the video of Vai talking about Vinne…Maybe I only read it.  I did find videos about the black page and Vai’s own audition).

I don't know if anyone has listened to "Sea Wolf" but I highly recommend "Leaves in the River" and "White Water, White Bloom"
