Just spent the last hour reading up on your bike (knew nothing beforehand).  Cool dual sport that looks to be good on and off road and should be quite a bit of fun.

Any plans for adventure riding or tours planned?

Thanks! It’s not too impressive from a performance standpoint but I like the versatility, love the look and the price point.

Yes I’m hoping to try adventure riding soon. I’m a brand new rider, just passed the safety course, so planning to get comfortable on the road first and then start looking for some fun gravel. I have a background in backpacking so wanna do some camping off it too. And bring the tenkara rod  😉

Good luck with the new bike. Definitely take it slow, especially,if the eventual goal is off road.

                                Hey Ironheads,

I sold my 1966 Benneli Tornado when my daughter was born. I'm starting to think about two wheels again. I've always been a cafe racer rider and more into the Brit and Italian retro styles, more into Bonnie than a Ninja 😉 Having said that, an Indian Scout was always a dream bike back in the day.

I'm so long out of the bike scene (my last bike had right foot gear change LOL) that I'm look for ideas and what lemons to stay away from.  I don't want to go down the old vintage path again - but the retro flavour with reliability is what I'm thinking.

Hypersonic speeds are not my thing and the ability to have a lady squeezing my waist as a pillion passenger needs to be part of what I go for  😃

So after that long ramble, it would be great to hear from some of you with some ideas.

                                Thanks in advance

I picked up a Thruxton RS around Christmas and have been putting in the miles this summer.  Great bike (retro styling) but modern comfort and reliability.  You can get passenger pegs/pillion for it also.

Sounds like you're looking for something similar to me. I'm considering an Iron 883 with a pillion seat and sissy bar for my better half

I would second @goosehd ’s suggestion @Jase68 . The Thruxton ought to be an option you consider and test ride for rideability, comfort and looks. I thing it scores high in all categories although I don’t own one. I own a Scrambler but I’m not fully in love with it; a bit too unrefined/unpolished ride for a road bike. I’ve tried out a Thruxton and loved it for the sort of use you are considering. Good luck and enjoy the search!!!

Thank EVERYBODY for your get well wishes!!! They collectively worked like a charm… I’m fully on the mend and happy to report that my chest injuries are mostly bothersome rather than outright painful. On topic, we just got confirmation that WSBike races will be held in Argentina mid october and the border with neighboring countries will open up for visitors Oct 1st. 💪🏼👍🏼
So I’ll likely hitch a ride with friends driving a vehicle there, no bike yet for me! Expect some pics posted here. That Toprak kid from Turkey is giving Jonathan Rea a run for the championship and it’ll be fun to see them battle it out up close.

                                      The journey is the objective.

@goosehd  The Triumph Thruxton looks the biz - where are they made these days, I will certainly be looking more into that model.

@motojobobo - thanks for the info and glad to hear you are on the mend!

@LewisStonehouse - good luck in your search, as I mentioned I have been a long time out, so I'm not sure what an Iron 883 is?
