That halo effect is often an artifact of sharpening. Was the sun right behind the rock?

The sun was barely visible behind the formation, but there nonetheless. The picture didn’t need sharpening as it was pretty in focus. I’m not really sure what caused the Halo 😇 effect, but it’s contributed to the image’s popularity.

Don’t shoot much during the Winter. Spend a lot of time revisiting old files. Mostly deleting pictures, but sometimes you find a fun one. Walking the Dog,reflected in the chrome bumper of a 55 Chevy Belair.

That’s cool @Jett129 . I’ve generally been lazy about exploring post-processing possibilities but seeing successful outcomes may prod me into trying them. Well done 👏🏻👏🏻

              The journey is the objective.

Thank you,it comes from the fact that in the days before color film, people would hand colorize  select parts of the B&W images. Now through the wonders of Photoshop it’s much easier. If you search on #selectivecolor on Instagram there are some really, really cool shots. I also think that once you do this it elevates the image a little closer to being “Art”,which is something I struggle with.

The fixed focal length makes life interesting, but I've found I'm so much more likely to chuck the camera in the bag compared to a whole pile of kit. Pretty amazing what it can do, turns out they're not just good for street photography 🙂

@goosehd few light touches in Lightroom but no major editing. That being said I'm using the X100V's in-built film similations and exporting a jpeg: Velvia where they're super vibrant, Classic Chrome on the more muted ones and Acros for b&w. To be fair, the colours were amazing in real life too, Cornwall really is stunning.
