Wow @endo !! How is the Carbon Drive? I used to live across the street from the site of the old Gates plant in Denver that was demolished in 2014. I think drives like this are probably the future.

        Think it, be it.

@mclaincausey The carbon drive is great, really smooth, no noise at all, perfect with the Rohloff speedhub.

@endo That is a lovely commuting bike, perfect spec.

Not quite the same but I am waiting on a new MTB frame with a Pinion drive and Gates belt.  I have been a Nicolai fanboy for years now and the new bike is a Saturn 14 GPI trail frame.  Looking forward to building it up later this month.

Getting the parts for the build was another story, massive parts availability problems at the moment, glad I had quite a bit of spare stuff in boxes that I have been able to use.

              thanks, @ddtrash

I'm all but an expert on bikes, but the Pinion is supposed to be very fine as well. And the Gates belt is so wonderful! I'm just coming back from a tour through town, it's all so easy and joyful with a good bike.

Heard about the parts availability problems. Strange, but somehow also good if it reflex an increasing demand. Innercity transportation has to change. Here in Germany it is happening, very slow though.

@endo The components crisis is in the UK is down to a few combined factors.

In the UK cycling has been "on the up" for a while now.  I think the professional and Olympic success of British cyclists in recent years has helped feed the interest so more bikes have been getting sold.

Sales and use of E-bikes also contributing, I now see lots of overweight middle aged men on e-bikes ripping around my local woods.  Nice to see, the E-bikes are certainly getting more people outside and active.

The year of lockdowns has also contributed with a lot of folks at home and getting interested in bikes to get their exercise fix.

The CV19 mess has also had a negative effect on manufacturing of all kinds, bike parts included.

Combine upsurge in cycling and issues with parts supply and there is not many components left in stock anywhere globally.

But further to your point, I was chatting with H last night and thanked him for the amazing SS21 collection that he put together and thus making our job easy.  He commented, and really this is so true, it's not just the product that makes us good at the moment, it is our ability to make and deliver in a timely fashion.  One of our goals 13 months ago was to at least give the appearance to our customer base that Covid was not screwing our ability to deliver effectively as normal….

Thanks @zhivago and @Jordan23! That Ridley is rad. Reminds me of the 3T Exploro and two wheelsets. I love the multidimensional nature of gravel bikes and wide range of uses. Stoked to hit trails and shred on some paved stuff with this.

@Jordan23 super nice bike! Curious how long it takes you to swap both wheels. Is it quick/easy enough that it wouldn’t be a burden if you did street and cross rides the same week?

I had a Yakima rack that did a little cosmetic damage to my frame and decided to get a platform rack. I really like this rack (Küat NV 2.0) with a handful of minor critiques: 1) in addition to the convenient integrated cable locks, I'm surprised there isn't a way to lock the arm that secures the front wheel, or at least that it isn't drilled out for users to add security 2) the tightener for the hitch seems a bit dangerously exposed to potential impacts when going off-road 3) though you can adjust the height of the front wheel holder to mitigate bikes touching one another, I would feel better about the platforms being staggered a bit 4) there is no security for the convenient integrated repair stand, so I keep it in the car in case it's needed on the trail

To be fair, 2 and 3 are possibly not real issues–guess we'll see.

                                        Think it, be it.

Ah ok, I thought that only the front wheel was easily exchangeable while the rear one was more involved due to the chain and gears. Whenever I see bikes chained to a lightpost in cities/unis it is always the front wheel which is threaded with the chain, as if the rear one weren’t easily removed
