Thank you. I use that pier to anchor a lot of my sunrise/sunset pictures and had been getting bored as of late,so I decided to experiment and use a lens that you would normally use for doing extreme close-up photography. Had no idea the storm was on the way when I set out to take the pictures. Took about 100 shots before I had to get out of there. This was probably the best one.

Thanks. It’s a really sharp lens that I had gotten for my son when he was getting into photography. I don’t use it, so I thought let’s see what happens.

Today was a holiday here and the weather was promising for photos: little wind, good light. So I sat waiting for some birds to come for water and food. Not artistic, mostly just descriptive type bird pics…

Common thrush around here. Local name “jichi taruma”

Two tanagers; the green/bluish one is far more common and called ‘sayubu”.

This small guy, a parula, is an insectivore and moves in lightning fast bursts.

I was sitting in my kitchen having beers with a heavy lens on a tripod…lazy afternoon. Good relaxation.

                (Nikon D500 and a 600 mm lens)

                The journey is the objective.

Maybe not, but beautifully executed photography nonetheless..

More than likely, satellites. Shame, the night sky is being hijacked.

I took those pics the day before peak Perseids meteor shower. The straight lines in pic #1 are meteors; the colors are typical. The line in pic #3 could be a meteor or a plane.

To be honest, my main photo goal for this trip was to do a composite image of multiple meteors by taking 30s exposures throughout the night on Aug 11th. That was a complete, absolute disaster for a reason that I am too embarrassed to mention here but which is 100% my fault…

The photos were taken in Idaho during a 7 day rafting trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon river, which was a unique experience.

Thank you. I have plenty of other pics from the trip, but from the phone as during the day my 6D was locked in a Pelican case. This was one day when we stopped early.

Yes, this lens is amazing, but they sure don't give it away…  ??? 😞

The 6D does have a good reputation for night photography. I'm going to try to do more, probably next Summer, as the skies are getting quite cloudy now in the Pac NW. The new 6D (Mark II) is even better because it has a built-in intervalometer, peaking function (hard to focus on those stars at night), and a swiveling screen.
