IH-777S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Slim Tapered Jeans - Indigo

It sounds like we have similar issues when it comes to finding the perfect fit, so your insight is interesting and useful.
Yes, there may me similarities. I am 6’ and weigh around 14.5 stone. True waist is 35” and true inseam is 31”. So relatively broad with short, heavy set legs.
There is no doubt that the 888 is my most flattering cut, and the IH cut I own most of. But I don’t like limiting myself and have found ways to rock most IH cuts.
Have you tried the 888? I’m a huge advocate of sizing down. It is easy with the more forgiving denim like the 21oz and the high waist means that a lot of people actually need to size down.
I need a starting waist of 35” in the 777 and 666, but can start at 33” in the 888. They are tight to start but loosen nicely. The effect on big legs is of a slim tapered cut. If I go more TTS then I get the intended relaxed tapered cut. Very versatile.

It’s interesting seeing the fit on those 33” pair. I’ve been considering getting a pair in that size.
I need to decide if the low rise (and narrow thigh) is something I’ll be comfortable with. I’ve owned a few second hand pairs of 777 jeans and can never quite get it right, eg 34” were too loose in the waist. Maybe 33” is the answer…. but then they’ll be very tight in other areas.
I own a pair of 555 jeans and find the crotch is too low and restricts my leg movement.
Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives to 555 and 777? Something still relatively slim.
@going_to_battle maybe have a look at these?:

Or try one of these SelfEdge exclusive cuts?:
633 cut (comes in several different fabrics)
https://www.selfedge.com/iron-heart?product_id=1278&category_id=59301 cut (also comes in a few different fabrics but I think SE might be phasing this cut out?)

Thanks @manufc10, those are really interesting recommendations. Some thoughts…
IH-NO-LOT look like a really good cut for me, and it's great seeing aproy rock his in the same waist size that I'd probably go for. I'm not sure about the overdye or the model name/number... but the fit looks tempting.
Sadly the Self Edge models are probably a little too low rise for me, and shipping (tax) from the USA causes problems. I'm in the UK.
@neph93, no, I haven't tried the 888 cut yet. I just checked them out and I like the 21oz. Curiously, the leg measurements on the IH-888S cut in 31 waist are spot on… but the waist would almost certainly be too tight. That's the nature of having a bit of a belly, I guess - I'll need to hit the gym and then reassess once I lose my Dad bod!

Size 32 this time

I thought the 33” looked great on you but these admittedly look better. Good work.
-
Absolutly spot on on those @__Nicholas !
-
Nailed it @_Nicholas
You dialed them right in.

Thanks for the reassurance everyone! I think I'll probably chop another inch off the inseam and then beat the crap out of this pair.

New & old. Old & new.

Grabbed a nice crispy new pair of 777s a few days ago. Chuffed with the fit, can’t understand how 21oz can be so comfortable. Will be very happy if they end up anything like @RoxRocks86 pair! -
Fantastic fit - love your kitchen BTW!

-
@jerkules - they look great. What size did you go for?

Cheers everybody!
@going_to_battle these are size 34. I’m 6”1’ and ~180lbs. I bought in store at Rivet&Hide so was able to try a few sizes: I could fasten a 33 but I would describe the tightness as profound - all the other measurements felt too close for comfort. I know this denim relaxes substantially, but for me it was too much. I want to be looking forward to breaking in a pair rather than feeling daunted! The 34 was still difficult to fasten and was initially tight around the waist, but in all other dimensions felt “right”. After a solid week of wear they feel pretty perfect and I’m very happy with them.
