Catch of the day [Fishing]

11.5" Crappie.
Some 35 - 40 years ago, in my teen years, my family would take week long summer vacations to a lake in northern WI. Every late afternoon of those trips, we'd hit limit on crappies about that size. Fish fries every night.

Took my nephew out fishing last weekend. We caught a bunch of Pike but this was the only bass. He was mega happy.
Very nice. Large mouths are always fun for the youngins. Recently, I came across a pic I had forgotten about. It was my daughter's first largie. Not quite that size. But, it was big enough to HUGE smile on her face. Truth be told, I did have to help her land it. She was only 8, at the time…..

Nice fish and cool memories @scooter.
I've never been to Disney World or 6 flags. My family vacations every year were weeks of fishing in northern Minnesota and up into Canada. Those were the best times of my life and grounded me into loving fishing forever.
-
Caught a bunch today. Total length less than the inseam on my shorts though. Kid had a blast because we were getting bites on almost every cast though.

So, I bid on a Kayak and it went for way more than I thought it was worth. I'd done my sums and worked out that I could probably buy a new one for less. Came second in the auction, so went to buy the same model new, completely sold out.
So I have a roof rack with Kayak attachment and a fish finder, but no Kayak….

In the U.S. its very common to find for sale items on the end of someones property near the road. If it's the same in the UK, you have the perfect setup to drive around and find that kayak for sale.

Went out this morning at 04:00. No Bass to be seen but plenty of mackerel, which I am currently making and Escabeche with.
After I filled my boots with Mackerel, I changed to Bass specific lures, and then this happened…...
I had a massive wind knot that snapped the line on the cast, and the lure ended up a long way away (but not attached to me), luckily it is a floating lure, so I could see it bobbing around. A very quick fix of the screw up on the reel, a rethread and tying another floating lure on, I managed to catch the lure on the 2nd attempt. That saved me $30, so all's well that ends well
-
Laughing because the exact same thing happened to me and I walked out to my neck to
Get the lure. It was a handmade wooden metal Lip swimmer. Glad you got the Lure back! I see you use an anglers clip to attach lures. The best -
I've done that before, and forgot I had my passport and Wallet in my rear pockets
We call it a Breakaway Mini Clip over here. Probably exactly the same thing…
I was only discussing with my mate this morning how now, we will change lures frequently because it is so easy, once upon a time we'd put off changing lures, if we bothered at all.
-
Oh boy. Passport… I was wearing my chicken legged wabash pants. Which look lovely BTW
Yeah exactly the same. So nice to change lures easily and without eating up your leader. Or if you direct tie, like an animal, then you waste your fishing line. And cutting braid is such a hop in the ass.
I’ll have some kayak catches soon. Outfitting her before I go out.
So you ordered the kayak?

My nephew is hooked on fishing. I couldn't be a more proud uncle.
we decided to troll for northern and he caught his 2 biggest fish ever. (1-28" and one 30" pike)The next day my wife and I went out for a fish n' swim boating excursion and a tossed a line in and caught this 31" pike.
